I’ve ditched a couple of my usual cyberpunk patreons this month. Cyber Forge have been pretty “meh” a couple of times and there was nothing really there that grabbed my interest this month. Normally I “play by the rules” and support creators, rather than just pick and choose who I’m going to “buy minis from” each month. But I reckon, with about 7,000 supporters, Cyber Forge are going to be alright without my continued early-bird pledge!
I also dropped Papsikels, whom I’m supported from his very early days. Again, his supporters have gone from 30 or so (when I joined) to around 700 so I don’t think he’ll miss me too badly. A mix of far too many inappropriate busty near-nude female models and a lot of plagiarising existing IP (Cyberpunk 2077, Judge Dredd, TMNT and now proposals to “borrow” from the Marvel universe) is neither what I joined for, nor something I wish to encourage or support; for me Patreon is about supporting artists, creating their own works, not getting proxies for existing minis on the cheap!
All of this means, I’ve started looking at other creators, with a view to supporting a couple more – and not all of them sci-fi/cyberpunk related either! I’ve even started thinking that maybe fantasy isn’t off-limits….
I stumbled across the mega-release from OnePageRules this month. There are lots of dwarves, in all kinds of flavours (sci-fi, fantasy, sheilds, helmets etc) to keep @brennon happy. And a whole load of “battle sisters” for anyone wanting to bring a feminine touch to the 41st Millenium.
It’s nice to see sci-fi female characters that *aren’t* metal-bikini-clad porn-star lookalikes for a change!
There’s also a honking great dragon, a massive demon and a couple of other giants that I don’t even know how to describe. Here’s a photo:
