equally i see some threads go off topic because of an invididual’s view and then loose intrest in them

I see your point but these could be mitigated by mods. Either stepping in with a stern “this is a subforum for 15mm historic, please keep modern naval battle to the appropriate subforum” or simply open a new thread for off topic discussions. You simply can’t do that right now.
