Good Lord I heard Justin was unwell I had no idea it was that serious. It is difficult to believe it is the last person you would expect to get that news about. I wish him all the best in his recovery.
My pledge is flames of war British Tanks. I failed to finish them at the end of last month but we have been making progress I have 4 or 5 tanks and 4 jeeps to do this week. The key is not to get side tracked by other projects which has been the main problem.
Alternative minis: If a game is meant to be played with specific models (like Warhammer and Battletech or Star Wars: Legion) how often do you find yourself replacing ‘official’ models with alternative skulpts?
I will say quite a bit. I tend to use proxy models which are pretty close to the actual model and often along side the actual models. For example if playing 40K guard I might field one unit of Wargames Cannon Fodder models. Or for flames of war I have plastic soliders troops or Zvezda tank models which I mix in.
I believe in buying models because it helps the people that create the games systems and keeps the hobby shops going as well. So I dont have a problem in buying the offical models but I like to have something different and unique in the force as well.
Do “Lets Play” videos have an effect on you when it comes to making decisions on purchasing games?
It does and they are very useful however it can be a negative well in terms of sales. Slaine for example I did buy after watching the videos on the game which was a positive.
I have to admit a few games I watched sometimes the game can see complex or just a bit dull. It has complete turned me off from the game completely.
I am interested to see the Blood and Plunder one for example. Aspects of it interest me the whole setting is to my taste but I am curious how the battles plan out. If they have ship to ship fighting with boarding actions or is it just standard battles on land.
I also wish they would send Ben some games maybe solo ones to play. I feel sorry it is always just Gerry doing the videos all the time.
Battletech: Alpha Strike or Classic? Which do you prefer?
None… I am sure I will get hate for this but the game has never been any interest to me. I played the PC games the idea of the game could be amazing. The aspect that puts me off is the scale. I 100% get it is the right scale for that type of game but these tiny little robots to me just does not capture the battletech. I want a Imperial Knights scale mechs with arms I can swap over and guns that plug and play into sockets. Moving around tiny robots at the current scales does not feel right. That is just me personally but I have never played the game so dont judge it on my words.
