In my opinion the “event” has had quite a negative impact on the quality of the content, not just the weekenders. There just used to be more going on in the studio, more stuff being filmed especially just backstage stuff. The weekenders being filmed in person just felt more personal. I feel like the “event” is really the switching point where things changed, mandatory at the moment, but not any more and sadly it hasn’t changed back.

I still fondly remember the XLBS filmed in the hull of a Sherman tank.
