Not wishing to start a row, @wolfie65 but if “older versions almost always trump newer ones” why compare back to 5th edition WHFB book? Surely that is inferior to 4th edition (and both would be inferior to the third, which in turn wouldn’t hold a candle to, say, the first edition)? Or was – at some point – one of the later editions actually better than an earlier version, and then become the “benchmark” against which anything later is measured against?

Just curious why 5th and not first is considered the best in this case, when the logic would dictate v1.0 was supreme and everything after it just got steadily worse?
