Hi, I wanted to use this space to show a sculpt I’ve been working on and get people’s thoughts on it. I’ve been working on it on-off for a couple of months now and I’ve probably ended up putting many more hours into it than I’d initially intended…
I’m still very much a learning sculptor and so it is a little rough around the edges in places, however I’m very happy with how it has turned out and developed from the initial idea I had in my head. Here’s an image of how it looks at presently, probably around 96% complete.
The sculpt has been done with a mixture of Procreate and Aves Apoxie modelling putties- a blend which I seen recommended in a sculpting video, and which I have found is quite nice to work with. You get around a 40 minute sculpting window prior to the putty drying.
My initial idea for the sculpture was to base it around the limb setup of the comic book villain Dr Octapus, but a fantasy character with the additional four limbs from his back being the necks and heads of dragons, with the character itself being a demon lord.
I’d love to hear what you think of the sculpture, I am really tempted to cut the model up for moulding once complete, and produce some casts in white metal- as I have produced miniatures in this way in the past and would love to get back into it.
Here are some more images of the model, and some Work In progress images taken along the way:
