@zoidpinhead not 2000AD, 2300AD to WA/Mongoose – so Traveller not Dredd. I made the same mistake in thinking that and posting it somewhere. What’s 300 years anyway, right? 😆
May 29, 2025 at 5:49 pm #1930644Given the insane amount of sprues Wargames Atlantic is doing (along with the various ‘secret projects’ they often mention in their newsletters) it wouldn’t be *that* weird …
May 29, 2025 at 6:00 pm #1930645So we could see both a new range of plastic minis for JD and a new RPG?
I am a fan of the old GW Judge Dredd RPG 🙂
May 29, 2025 at 7:27 pm #1930657@grantinvanman Ah well that makes sense now. As others say I still fancy WA will have a hand in there somewhere. There is still plenty of milage in the JD IP as they hardly ever touch the other Mega Cities and there are plenty of options beyond block wars that would make good miniatures games. Having a 3D design arm will help too as the lesser characters can still get a look in with miniatures that enough fans will buy when you have access to the whole world as a potential market.
I’m still hopeful for a proper Rogue Trooper game. If I’m already gaming A War Transformed and Trench Crusade then I’ll be all set I’ll just need the minis.
May 29, 2025 at 7:32 pm #1930659I remember one of my very first White Dwarfs having a Judge Dredd adventure in there.
This was during the golden age of WD. When 40k was still to be and the magazine had actual hobby content instead of page after page of advertising for 40k and Warhammer/AoS.I wonder if ‘Guards of Traitors’ Toll’ could be re-themed for this setting. Everyone is doing Discworld clones, but surely Dredd is begging to be the Sci Fi version of that game?
May 29, 2025 at 7:39 pm #1930660That’s a good call. Grey For Now have had a couple of big successes, maybe they might fancy a big IP based game now.
June 3, 2025 at 6:14 pm #1931597So looking back through Warlord open days, so the JD and a other game cycle was covered in Warlord Games Ope Day Q&A 2022 by Paul Sawyer, the difficulty with the licence is covered in Warlord Games Open Day Q&A about 6 minutes in on the one with Rick Priestley and John Stallard and with Paul leaving Warlord there was’t anyone to sort out the licensing as IP contracts aren’t Stallards thing.
I imagine that was part of the reaon for Alessio may have been coming on board as he is used to dealing with IPs and game development.
I think 2000AD is maybe a bit to small for Steam forged, Monolith or Modipheus but Mantic might pick it up, whats the status of Riverhorse at the moment?
June 3, 2025 at 7:48 pm #1931668I kind of doubt Judge Dredd could ever be as big as Halo is for Mantic …
Heck, not sure if they would want an additional IP that requires/needs periodic updates/releases (they got Halo and Walking Dead).
They also need to do updates for their core games.I’d say it’d be better for Dredd if the next owner could dedicate all of their effort to maintaining it and giving it support beyond simply releasing new minis.
June 9, 2025 at 1:50 am #1932301@guillotine The interview about the other game releases was the 2022 Warlord Open day Q&A with Paul Sawyer and John Stallard.
@grantinvanman The 2024 open day Q&A about 5 minutes in this question comes up and Joh Stallard basiclly says were working on the licence but Paul ran this and I don’t really deal with IP contracts.
@zoidpinhead If the license is going to Mongoose could explain the not see the range in this current format, as when Mongoose had the license they had Warlord handle the minis in the end, so could they go back tosome arrangement like that.-

June 9, 2025 at 4:21 am #1932303@admiralandy thanks for that – that confirms what I suspected. I knew Paul was huge into the Dredd franchise.
June 9, 2025 at 5:48 pm #1932403I do remember from some interviews Warlord guys saying the license required them to do annual releases and they couldn’t only do Judge Dredd.
Warlord seem to have a habit of agreeing to overly demanding licenses — I recall that they used to complain about similar issues with their Doctor Who game.
I’m still hopeful for a proper Rogue Trooper game.
@zoidpinhead you and me both, I was hoping that would be next.-

June 9, 2025 at 6:17 pm #1932406I think There was a Rogue Trooper miniature game of sorts from a kickstarter, I think the rules like Mongoose Judge Dredd Block War are floating around as PDFs but think it stalled without a line of miniatures produced.
There is also the RPG background book if you fancy adapting a ruleset for use. Given the sneaking around and misdirection, maybe something like 0200 hrs would work?
June 9, 2025 at 6:38 pm #19324080200 Hours would probably be a great fit for Rogue Trooper, the main thing we need is an accessible line of miniatures.
June 10, 2025 at 7:30 pm #1932596Thing is, Dredd isn’t dead, unless John Stallard is going to break into my house and take my rules and my minis. And as for Rogue Trooper, there’s nothing stopping any of us from just doing it ourselves. I reckon the Northstar plastics would make good Nords and Southers.
June 11, 2025 at 12:59 am #1932613@moonunit – he’s coming for you, be AFRAID. He’ll take your toys, your books, and get you hooked on historicals 😂
