Looking at what we enjoy on the tabletop in terms of the opening scenes from Empire Earth there is the common theme of armed conflict. I wanted to poke the badgers in the historical community a bit but decided against it out of respect to their subforum and a general thought there’s not much humor going on there. I saw a recent bazaar sale of a box of SPQR and its subtitle of “The art of war in the Roman Republic”. I’d like to see someone come up with a rules set for FARC “The art of war in a Banana Republic” not out of any desire to see a Latin American guerilla conflict but just to have the humor of it all. I see this in the same light and through the same lens as presented by Team17 and their beloved videogame series “Worms”.

In the realm of Malifaux there is, or was at one time, a generous helping of irreverent humor through their playable factions. Is there any other games that might give that same silliness in comic combat?

40k is prime for poking fun at; just look at ‘If the Emperor had a Text to Speech Device’.  Even GW are in on it by officially endorsing the web comics ‘Turn Signals on a Land Raider’ and ‘Spannerz’. 😉

This probably isn’t surprising when you go back and look at the Rogue Trander era when 40k took itself less seriously and was more tongue in cheek.
