BTW – and I’ll probably post this in the “main group” chat too – if anyone is in the UK and wants to join in with a painting competition but doesn’t have minis to hand, for whatever theme is up that month, just give me a shout and I’ll see if I’ve something I can print and pop in the post (sorry, international-friends, but the post within the UK is only just bearable these days – posting into Europe post-Brexit and post-US-tariffs-on-just-about-any-old-thing is just a logistical nightmare).

I have archives to quite a few Patreon creators going back years (from the likes of Artisan Guild, STL Miniatures, Vae Victis, Cyber Forge and Titan Forge and quite a few Anvil Digital Forge but sporadic months from lots of other creators too) and am quite happy to set a print going to churn out a plateful of minis for anyone who wants to join in! Send me a link to your stl and the creator and I’ll see if I have it (or if you own it, link me and I’ll print it from your file(s)).

Somehow have missed this until now so let’s see if I can get something done in 24 hours. I have something in mind and (as of twenty minutes ago) now primed.

I, too, will rush something out, can’t try to start another contest and not get my entry into the existing one. It’s not gonna be impressive, the 3D printer sings as I type. Primer also let loose.

@blinky465, these monthly competitions realy motivate me to paint. I hope I can keep my mojo up for a long time. My pile of potential is big and diverse enough to find a suitable mini for lots of categories.

I totally get that too – sometimes I think I want to paint, but it turns out I can’t be bothered. I’ve half a team of Blood Bowl Orcs that have been hanging around for ages now. I want to see them done. But actually getting on and finishing them? Urgh.

But this monthly contests are just the right amount of effort, just the right amount of new-and-shiny and just small enough to not feel overwhelming. It’s why I’m quite happy to print just one or two little pieces, paint them up and call it done (rather than 8-10 minis for a blood bowl team, or a kill team squad or whatever and suddenly I’ve generated a lot of work for myself!)

Which reminds me…. it’s deadline day today isn’t it?
I’d better work out how to do one of these online poll things and put a post out later – it needs to be later as I need a couple of hours to finish my own entry first 😉

This is just a selection.  They are part of a force for my Slaine setting using the Midgard rules.  See more in my project.

I’m pretty proud of these little hexy beggars. Honestly, I enjoyed messing around with them. I might have taken the city theme a bit too literally. It’s a good impetus to get moving on something, this monthly comp and long may it continue. Here is my entry, printed and painted in record time, 4:20-ish yesterday to about 4:20 today. Usually, my mind struggles to stick to something like this, but a little competition worked wonders. Will post the STL artist as soon as I can remember where I downloaded them from.(Edit -The Artist is THE_SIGNAL at  cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/mega-hive-for-grimdark-hive-city-hex-grid-the_signal)

@Lazagram great take on this month’s theme! 👍

Any plans to game with them? Getting a Mighty Empires in Spaaaace vibe

Thanks, @somegeezer It was pretty fun printing them. The hive spire didn’t print to my liking, might work on scaling it slightly to improve, slowing it down or maybe add some supports this time. Such a nice little task, I certainly will be making a few more. Unfortunately, most of the other designs from the set are kinda terrain-related (mountains, desert, cliffs). I’d like a bit more variety in the city sprawl, maybe a Hive Wall, but I have seen other sets of similar but differently fitting together Hex that I could definitely dig. If there is a game to go with them, I’m all in. I thought they were just some random 40K related hex tiles. Pretty sure I just searched City 40k free, and these were on the first page.

Edit- Found the artist’s page on Cult 3D won’t let me link, but it’s THE_SIGNAL, and it turns out he has created a super spire and some other continued outland hexes as well.

Ok. I tried for the last few hours to post my own entry here.

And I keep getting this: *** Forbidden. Sender blacklisted. Anti-Spam by CleanTalk. ***

What is it with these forums? I’ve been trying to post here for about two hours and missed my own self-imposed deadline!
I promise I didn’t when I started uploading my own entry. But by the time I got the website to accept my post, yesterday rolled into today and today is now tomorrow.

Anyway – here’s my wittily titled “working the night shift”.
I wanted to add tiny LEDs inside the phone box, and take a photo with suitable moody lighting but – tbh – I just ran out of time.

Right. Final, final deadline is midday tomorrow (today) 26th.
I’ll work out how to get all the entries posted before then into a poll and share here so you can all start voting.

@brennon – there are still a couple of hours for you to get your entry in!
@horati0nosebl0wer – are you joining in this month?

@blinky465 :>(÷°₩|&×<>!!! *ahem* I have choice words for work right now. I’ve been out of town for the month and have really only been at home on Saturdays. Sunday is laundry day and getting ready for the multi hour drive back to the worksite out of town. I probably will be SOL for the next two months as well. I do know my figure for last months entry got printed up and is waiting for me when I get back.

Good job on your work to all entries

    Ok. I made a poll:
    https://pollunit.com/en/polls/gql0rmx3r-k4mijfmeu3lq

Please choose your favourite THREE and rate them with up to six stars.
I’ve no idea how this is going to work. Let’s be honest, it’s all trust-based anyway and a bit of fun. Pick up to three you like the look of, give each some stars (you choose how many). I don’t know how we can tell if anyone abuses the polling or goes rogue and votes on all of them (or just one) but let’s see how this works out!

(if anyone can get their entry finished by midday today, I’ll add them to the polling)
