    Turbo Laser to right of them,

    TIE Fighters to left of them,

    Stormtroopers in front of them

    Volleyed and thundered;

    Stormed at with shot and shell,

    Boldly they rode and well,

    Into the jaws of Death,

    Into the mouth of hell

    Rode the six hundred.

    @maledrakh though to studio budget cuts they could only afford 6 and a lot of camera angles.

    so many star destroyers!

    not getting excited though, I’m not really enjoying the latest trilogy. I would much rather they had gone down the Timothy Zahn Trawn trilogy route. so much better storyline if you ask me.

    All those ships … flying within two centimeter of each other.

    You’re in flockin SPACE.

    Nearest ship should be kilometers away … not centimeters.

    I wonder if this battle is based on an Xwing tournament finale.

    Crew : How many ships do you want in this shot ?
    Director : All of them.
    Crew : But sir … there’s not enough screen space

    Director : It’s IMAX only … and we can sell them glasses in the small theatres

    @limburger be fair, this is the franchise where the space combat is more akin to WWII dogfighting & naval combat than series with their roots in reality….

    @dawfydd

    You’re right though, but even with that in mind there were far too many big ships practically next to each other.

    (and please don’t remind me of that bomber scene from the previous movie … it’s as if they stopped giving a *beep*)

    @a27cromwell there’s also a giant space ship floating in the sea … I think it’s best not to think about anything in this one, especially after the previous one.
    It’s as if they are trying to make it even more ridiculous just because they can.

    I also think that Darth Emo should have played the part of Anakin in the prequels. He is exactly the kind of obsessed teenage cry baby that I expect to switch to the dark side because of something stupid. I wonder if he’s going to switch to the good guys in this one. (am I weird for thinking that his story arc is more interesting than that of the wannabe jedi girl ?)

    @dawfydd it draws on both WWII Naval and Aerial combat.   For larger ships, such as the majority of those in that shot I would expect a greater degree of separation.  I might expect a tight formation of a maybe 3-5 ships of the same type or a larger ship such as the Millennium Falcon with a fighter escort.  What’s going on in that trailer is basically a mob with very little structure or discipline
