    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is The Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

If you fancy to see some nice WIP pictures go to the WAYPN thread https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/what-are-you-painting-now-2025-edition/

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Question of the week:

    • Are you prepared for Christmas?

And now back to the show.

Pledge: decide on what to do next.

Answer: nope. not the slightest. Even though Christmas chocolate and stuff is in the shops for weeks now. I need to step up my games.

Music. A new track from the upcoming last ever Megadeth album. I really hope that album keeps what this track promises.

    Christmas ?

    What’s that then ?

We got more important stuff to do …

And what is it with these package tracking apps that first mention a date of delivery and then randomly change the date again?
The soviet invasion has now been delayed ’til monday according to the app, which technically means I could get both the Mantic package and the one from Warlord on the same day. That is … if the UPS tracking is accurate and delivery will actually be attempted on monday.

If I had known the delivery wouldn’t happen at all today I would have gone shopping first thing in the morning.  *aarrrgh*

Looks like it’s going to be a rainy week as well. 🙁

@grantinvanman for us it’s this weekend (technically on sunday).
Although most clocks update themselves automagically, so I only need to change the time on my physical alarm clock.
There’s the oven and microwave as well, but I can’t be bothered with those.

I really wish the EU did the one thing it should be doing : get rid of the stupid daylight saving time.
We ain’t saving any time with this stuff.

Pledge: I want to get my Wargames Factory Caesarians undercoated.  There are loads of them but they need to get done so I’m ready for a try out of the AP Speedpaint pens that are on preorder, should be here in a couple of weeks.  I just need it to stop raining for a bit 🙂

Christmas is always fun apparently 😀  In my immediate family we have been managing the process in recent years by providing lists of stuff that would be welcome and useful.  It saves people buying things that others don’t really want when budgets are tight.  It does take away some of the surprise element but none of us are big fans of surprises.

As to Christmas food I can reccomend the Butterfield diet “treat day” list.  Who doesn’t want mystery meat?

Pledge: share my new Orks project! Waaagh, and all that. Finally, I’m building for ME.

Christmas: this year, there are no gifts. It’s been agreed. Something to do with saving for a trip next fall.

Soviets managed to sneak in under the radar.
I first got a message that the delivery wouldn’t happen today … and then a bit later I got the notification that they had been dropped off at the pickup location I had specified.

    //

I never know what to ask as a present and I’d definitely need a list of some kind if I want to buy presents for someone else, because I tend to have zero clue as to what they like without one either.

Didn’t have any presents for my nephews and niece last year. It felt kind of wrong, but they didn’t mind so all was good.
I shall try to sneak in something this year though.

Pledge: Do some hobby. Play some solo games. Because I’m free. Work is over. Retired.

As for xmas…. my gamer friends and I gave up on gifts and decide to have a Domino’s Pizza night instead this year.

Just me an my sister now and we don’t need anything, so we just get some good food in and enjoy that.

as you get older and start to earn money the need for gifts is reduced as you usually can buy the stuff you really want yourself.

This time Warlord gave me a sprue of British WW 2 as a bonus with my order. I think I have now at least one sprue per major faction of WW2 🙂

I prefer it when humans make those alternate (metal) versions of existing songs.
    These ‘AI’ things lack creativity.

    I’m one day into retirement.

I was up at 4am because my body clock thought it was 5am.

I cleaned and scraped the sealant around the bath as it needs replacing, hoovered, been for a walk and had six cups of tea and one coffee.

That took me up to 8am.

    #1948005

Oh gawd, why did he have to go and mention the C word.

Now I’m feeling the palpitations in my chest.

The expense of having to buy pressies. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, having to host family over the Christmas period. Several frigging times! Compounded by the fact that I’m married to an overly generous and sociable woman who insists on lavishing our family with presents and time. And then the inevitable aftermath – January Xmas PTSD. And the long awkward silences around my wife who will no doubt still be simmering over at least one Christmas family argument, probably not caused by me but will still be my fault by default. But I digress (therapeutically).

Pledge: To move the construction work in my games room forward – it has laid untouched for many months now after I gutted it and installing velux windows over the summer.

Secondary pledge:  to maintain my grip on what’s left of my sanity (really – if you knew certain members of my family you would understand).

    Bah Humbug to you all!

    #1948012

@pagan8th – congrats! Wishing you a long and happy retirement! May your pile of shame finally get the attention it requires.

@waywarddarkwolf That’s a personal nightmare! As is tradition since our daughter is on this world, 24th we will be staying at home, just the three of us and 25th and 26th get dived up by both grandmas. Alternating year by year who comes first. I’m not willing to spend more of my free time with the genetic family or in-laws. I need some peace and quiet! XD
