    ### Start of shameless copy & paste ###

Read all of this before you start as it will save any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy & paste ###

    Questions of the week:

    • You did get all your Christmas presents for your loved ones by now, yes?
    • What hyped/famous/popular tabletop miniature wargame has disappointed you the most and why?
    • Are you going to have big Christmas dinners? Family zoom meetings? Or just shut all windows and remain indoors with your immediate family?

    And now: more coffee

    My answers:

    • Nope
    • hard to say, I usually don’t follow the hype trains that much… personally maybe the transition X-Wing V1 to V2.
    • Mostly remain indoors. Still needs to be seen how this second lockdown develops for us here.

    Coffee!

Of course not, I’ve not even thought about it.

What hyped/famous/popular tabletop miniature wargame has disappointed you the most and why?

For me this was Frostgrave, a mate bought the rules and we played a few games, however I found it quite repetitive and boring.  Every game felt the same, put the treasure on the table, line the troops up, skirmish forwards, grab the treasure and tot up what we’d found, repeat.  My mate really liked the game so I played for a while longer, but it just didn’t grab me.

Are you going to have big Christmas dinners? Family zoom meetings? Or just shut all windows and remain indoors with your immediate family?

I hope we will just stay indoors & lock the doors this year.  But I know my missus will want to go and see her daughters and grandkids.  This usually means I get left on my own for a couple of hours to cook the dinner.

Another week of not much time, but I now have Ser Gregor Clegane primed now, so if I do get some time I can get some paint on him. We’ll call that a pledge. As for questions…

You did get all your Christmas presents for your loved ones by now, yes?

    Not even started…

What hyped/famous/popular tabletop miniature wargame has disappointed you the most and why?

At the moment, 40k. Mainly because everything looked like a good change…then they started promoting it only as competitive and that group are the reason the game became an annoyance to me recently; I got sick of hearing about ‘this unit is the only choice’ and ‘never take this, it’s pointless’ and always noticing it’s the new things that get good…

Are you going to have big Christmas dinners? Family zoom meetings? Or just shut all windows and remain indoors with your immediate family?

Hopefully, my brothers can come home, but if not just a quiet thing. No point risking anything we don’t have to.

reminder : Saint Nicolas arriving tomorrow (saturday 14-11)
That’s the original, not the impostor who uses child slave labour that arrives somewhere before Christmas … 😉

    1) You did get all your Christmas presents for your loved ones by now, yes?
Nope, not even sure if and when we do anything.
My parents are getting too old to travel and with the Event there’s no way we’d risk anything at this point.
Already had to improvise a way to get a present to my nephew and niece for their birthdays in september.

    2) What hyped/famous/popular tabletop miniature wargame has disappointed you the most and why?
I never am one to follow hypes or trends … so I’m rarely dissappointed (or overly excited).

    3) Are you going to have big Christmas dinners? Family zoom meetings? Or just shut all windows and remain indoors with your immediate family?

See (1) … Christmas dinners never were that fancy anyway, so not much is lost.
We’ll have to see what we can do by that time. I do want to visit my parents if at all possible.

    This arrived :

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/awakenrealms/etherfields-board-game/description

Or rather … the first big box. I think there’s a wave 2 too.
However they could not have picked a worse delivery company (FedEx/TNT).
Those guys are still transitioning into a single company, which means f*ck ups happen.
This time the I got a note from TnT with a FedEx reference number.
As such I couldn’t find anything on the TnT site and only found it on the FedEx website, but had to call them to do so (navigate a dumb menu that asked for a tracking number and wait … ).

Now to find a way to get the big box of goodies home, because my trike kind of  lacks cargo capacity for a 17 Kg big box … something I really need to fix.

    Anyways … music …

This week’s pledge is to finish the clockwork dragon I’m working on for my Dweghom. I suspect it will be finished in a few days at this rate.

    1. You did get all your Christmas presents for your loved ones by now, yes? – My wife tells me she has sorted everything, but I know from experience that will miss about half the family.
    2. What hyped/famous/popular tabletop miniature wargame has disappointed you the most and why? – I tend not to get too worked up about pending games. That said the Monster Hunter kickstarter arrived last month and it is nothing like I expected. I was expecting a game similar to Kingdom Death Monster with long term settlement and character development, but instead its more of a one-evening play through game. It will be going to ebay once the expansions arrive.
    3. Are you going to have big Christmas dinners? Family zoom meetings? Or just shut all windows and remain indoors with your immediate family? – Its all up in the air here in the UK right now. If its legal we’ll be travelling to my Mums for a few days so the kids can see Grandma. If not it will be our first family holiday in our own house.

In what is rapidly becoming my ‘Saturday Hobby Habit’, I managed to get another mini finished. Ser Gregor Clegane, The Mountain! That also finishes up all my characters from the Starter Box! Expect a Project Log soonish…depending on weather in my neck of the woods… 😛

So I primed the next mini for painting (probably another Saturday job). Went back to 40k minis for the first time in a while, going to paint up a Librarian for my Ultrasmurfs. The Force Sword should be fun, hopefully my power sword technique isn’t too hard to remember after all this time… 😛

Have a bit of music, chaps!
