You definitely need a disembodied hand and/or a nervous looking dog eating Scooby Snax.

@sundancer I’m talking about a small change, not an alternate universe.
Someone going left when he should have turned right at a critical moment is all it takes.

this is not Newton being an Indian and inventing Mavity levels of nonsense.

It’s the Allies not delaying Market Garden so they do catch the Axis troops unaware.

However … if the change propagates far enough you do end up in what is effectively an alternate universe.
And that’s the basic problem for ‘alternate timelines’. You have to stick to the events near the start or else the universe changes too much, unless people are stupid and you get Starwars level of bs explanations as to why things are the way they are.

To me it’s like trying to define fantasy and science fiction as two distinct genres, when there is a huge gray area where it can be either and sometimes even both. Starwars is an example of that as there are story lines that are more like fantasy and others that are more science fiction. Anything involving Jedi or the force tends to trend toward fantasy, whereas the more grounded stuff (like Andor) trends towards science fiction.

Finally some progress on my 1:1 scale terrain project as I’ve cut the first sheets of EPS foam.
I think Anakin could have been referring to foam cutting instead of sand as the bloody stuff gets everywhere. A hotwire cutter might have been less messy, but I think the rough edges that are the result of using a big serrated knife may work in my favour at the end.

Definitely not trusting ‘AI’ for this sort of stuff in the future. It made soo many mistakes in dimensions it’s not even funny.

If only there were good (free/cheap) CAD programs. Tinkercad is nice, but I’m missing too many quality of life features that are IMHO essential for 3D modelling.

    Is it a duck?

    Is it fake?

    No! It’s a new thread!
