I had 3 packages to collect … and all of them at 3 different pickup locations ‘near me’.
That itself wasn’t too bad, but the one from Monolith was a big package and of course they delivered it to the one furthest from me. At least it was in the nearby shopping center. Had to take the bus home because it was a bit too heavy for the entire 10 minute walk home.

One more package to pickup tomorrow and I’m set for part 1 of the spooky season shenanigans. I also need to find a lot more candy to give out this year, but I kind of forgot what I had bought last year.

Need to find a convenient way of sourcing pink foam … schlepping one pack at a time is doable, but I think I need several packs.

Should I turn this into a project as I go?
Or should I focus on completing it first and document the details afterwards ?

usually you can order 1 big pack from hardware stores. That should last you a while.

I would order them … but they don’t deliver that item, so I’d have to collect it. 🙁
It’s probably the size/volume that makes it too expensive for them to offer home delivery.

I also have only found EPS (aka styrofoam … ) and none of that pink hard foam (XPS ?).

Going to have to start small and do a prove of concept first. If only I had this idea a few months earlier as that would have made things easier. OTOH … a cold hard deadline may help speed things along and gives me less reasons to delay doing stuff.

Don’t focus on the colour! That’s just a tint. The density is what counts. The original is called Styrodur but is also awailable as “Jackodur” and it’s all XPS foam. (EPS or Styropur, styrofoam) just has a lower density.

Finding the correct (local) name for things is the tricky part, especially when all sources are English and you need the correct Dutch translation.

Finally got a hit on that ‘Styrodur’ stuff. Local DIY shops appear to focus on the lower density stuff and then it’s straight into things meant for isolation that are probably better ?

Now to find what a ‘cam lock’ is supposed to be. Not sure where Claude.AI got that term from, which makes it doubly annoying. Bloody thing doesn’t explain things.

The stuff for isolation is XPS. From what I can tell with my rudimentary understanding of the Dutch language, this manufacturer has a good run down on what it is

So if you get big, thick sheets they are usually sold in packets online through local’ish hardware stores. HTH

It’s National Poetry Day today here in the UK.  I always used to get my groups to write a Haiku at the start of the day so let’s have a go here too 🙂  The format is very simple.  Three lines with a count of syllables as follows: First line has 5 syllables, second line has 7 syllables and the final line has 5 syllables.  Like this haiku for the OTT Weekender:

    Weekender brings joy.
New toys for us to kick in.
    New armies always lose.

it’s raining and that’s not doing good things for my mood …

thinking happy thoughts and trying to refocus on my hobby now. 🙂
I noticed one of the fans in my new pc wasn’t spinning, so I am going to use the extension cables to make sure all three are connected to their own outlets instead of the daisy chain I had initially used. This should clean up the internal cable routing as well. I should probably do the same for the rgb-light cables, but as they’re functional I’m leaving them as is. Then it’s time to finally move the thing to its proper place.
