### Start of shameless copy and paste ###
First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…
https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/
https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/
Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv
### End of shameless copy and paste ###
Question of the week:
- Today is Dick Van Dyke’s 99th birthday. What you favourite memory of him?
And now back to the show.
December 13, 2024 at 8:49 pm #1907170Pledge: see last week
Answer: I really remember him in Mary Poppins. And he even managed to make it work in the 2nd part decades later.
And just because I can – music
December 13, 2024 at 11:14 pm #1907173Pledge: continue on with the Battletech, which is now at the fun part – paint!
Dick van Dyke, absolute legend – has to be Mary Poppins, despite any horribleness to his exaggerated accent to make him be more “common”. I grew up watching Disney on Sunday nights.
He is missing an Oscar to be inducted as an EGOT. I hope they can find one for him before he passes, as his body of work is just so vast!
December 14, 2024 at 8:26 am #1907205Dick van Dyke is proof of Dutch world wide dominance … 😀
We needs more music so I give you a modern version to fit this themed thread :
More music :
Evil people doing Battletech before I gets mine need to be punished … 😉
Silly me forgot to open the doors on the mantic advent calendars. So I shall fix that mistake.
I shall be prepping my house for the move next week. So hopefully I can be finally done with that part before the year ends.December 14, 2024 at 2:36 pm #1907218@limburger all my BT is old stuff, not the KS…
December 14, 2024 at 3:47 pm #1907220Too late in the year for pledges, but I’ve painted the gifts for my gamer friends and just need to wrap them… the gifts that is… not the friends.
Only know him from Chitty and Poppins. The accent was awful. But 99 is a long life.
My great uncle lasted until 104. When the local paper phoned him on his 100th his daughter answered the phone because he was trimming the hedges for the old lady next door. When the reporter spoke to him and asked why he was trimming hedges at his age he said, “Well… the lady is in her 90s and she can’t do them!”
December 14, 2024 at 7:11 pm #1907241I’m not sure if I ever watched one of his movies, but I either must have or seen some of the clips from his oeuvre.
@grantinvanman I’m pretty sure I got some of the ‘old’ stuff in my pledge as well. So technically you still got some of my big stompy robots before me 😛
December 15, 2024 at 3:13 pm #1907312This week’s pledge is to continue the Ultramarine squad. Last week was the busiest of the year with school Christmas plays, fairs, family reunions, etc. So I made little progress. Hoping next week is a little more settled.
- Today is Dick Van Dyke’s 99th birthday. What you favourite memory of him? – I’ve seen him in Diagnosis: Murder more than films.
December 15, 2024 at 5:20 pm #1907338It’s Sunday and it’s almost over again.
Sundays should have more hours.
Still no news (for me) on Battletech (I hate you John!) and no progress on the Broch project (I hate myself)
Things to distract you:
December 15, 2024 at 6:19 pm #1907344December 15, 2024 at 6:28 pm #1907345December 15, 2024 at 6:50 pm #1907346I work six days now, but get 1 week off every 6. I like the 6th week. The other 5 are tiring and I really need the 6th.
The mug was a gift from my mother in the days when I only worked 5 days a week.
December 16, 2024 at 10:12 pm #1907497hmmmz … I guess the internet ate my post again.
What I wanted to say that if you go plan an extra sleep on saturday then you can get an extra few hours of being awake between saturday and sunday … which creates an extra day.
(or so it feels like to me when I fall asleep on saturday afternoon and wake up a few hours later … )
Day 16 of Advent.
The dice in barroom brawl are twice the size of the ones in the other Mantic advent calendar thingy.December 17, 2024 at 2:31 am #1907499Ugh. Just had sat down to paint when I got a call from my dentist’s office. My insurance didn’t pay for a third crown I got this year. Four months ago. Thought it was all settled. Nope. Why so long? Who knows.
Merry Christmas from my dentist – $2300. Talk about a kick in the junk, 9 days before Cmas.
After taking some anti-anxiety meds, I was able to continue painting, but it’s wrecked my night, and probably the next couple of months while I sort out payment – I am on a fixed pension, no magic money to pay a big bill like this that was not expected at all
