    ### Start of shameless copy & paste ###

Read all of this before you start as it will save any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy & paste ###

    Question of the week:

    • How many game systems do you own? (Miniature wargaming and “entry level” drugs board games like Blood Bowl, Hero Quest ect.)
    • Have you played them all?
    • Have you painted all miniatures that came in the respective (core/beginner) boxes?

    And now: coffee

    Oh boy…

    • 13 if you count Imperial Assault. And the number rises when multiplying each system with it’s different editions. (Blood Bowl x2, X-Wing x2, 40k x 4 (or 5?))
    • Nope, but almost
    • Nope, not even close….

cooooffeee…. let me sing songs of my people.

Good grief.Never count the editions, that way lies madness.

No hobby pledge,it’s been a bit of a struggle lately with all enthusiasm leaking away.

    Questions:

    1. 30+

    2. Emphatic no.

    3. Another emphatic no.

30+ and then the editions… sounds like that would be an interesting number XD

So no big pledges from me this weekend; got school assignments to work on that I’m already behind on… I primed Sansa Stark, so if I get a few free moments I can add some paint to her, but we’ll see. No time for painting research posts, though…

    As for questions…

How many game systems do you own? (Miniature wargaming and “entry level” drugs board games like Blood Bowl, Hero Quest ect.)

Well…counting some of my Napoleonics as Black Powder alone…I’ll say about 7-ish? It gets a little complicated with multi system minis…

    Have you played them all?

Definitely not… Haven’t had a chance to do so with my Game of Thrans because of The Event…

Have you painted all miniatures that came in the respective (core/beginner) boxes?

I did pretty well with the old Dark Imperium box…most of them are painted… And I’m being fairly efficient (for me) with Game of Thrans (19 out of 103 done is good for me…)

    Anyway…off I go to an online class-ish!

    1) How many game systems do you own? (Miniature wargaming and “entry level” drugs board games like Blood Bowl, Hero Quest ect.)

I wouldn’t even know ’cause I never counted them.
Based on the number of kickstarters that are in there I suspect I could play a different game every week for at least a year and not have duplicates.

    2) Have you played them all?
Only 3 so far (FoW 4th edition [I do own 3rd]), Bolt-Action 2nd edition, Age of Sigmar 2nd edition (although technically this was the starter set I gave to my nephew).

    3) Have you painted all miniatures that came in the respective (core/beginner) boxes?
    LOL …

    We needs more music.

Pledge wise it’s the same thing I attempted last week … finding time to open my box of 40k goodness or do something with the rest of my sort of planned 40k armies. However now that we’re at 9th edition I might have to rethink the lists (again) or just build everything and not worry … probably the latter.

How many game systems do you own? (Miniature wargaming and “entry level” drugs board games like Blood Bowl, Hero Quest ect.)

About 12 I reckon, but it’s about a 50-50 split between things from my youth and newer stuff from when I more recently got back into gaming.

    Have you played them all?

No, mainly because I’ve been more recently grabbing rulebooks and slowly assembling the collections to play them.

Have you painted all miniatures that came in the respective (core/beginner) boxes?

I think the only core box I have fully painted was the 4th Edition of Warhammer Fantasy. Most other box sets had gotten at least 50% painted (the faction/models that were interesting basically).

Pledge for the week is to keep working on some British light dragoons.

Failed in pledge attention. Work is ramping up from client requests in the Jewish community so things are busier than they have been. More contracts coming online also means more work for me to do. Bah! I am glad to have a job and just would like to have more time from my vocation to attend to my wonderful avocation. Pledge: Get the Necromunda barriers dusted with weathering powder and send off mini for “chain-letter” prize.

Blood Bowl, Necromunda and Legend of the Five Rings Clan War right now. I’ve been thinking about Speed Freeks as I keep thinking about the scratchbuilding would be fun. I’ve long ago passed on Mordheim and miss it very much. (entry level drugs are my anime collection… only a little cheaper than GW products)

As far as other rules sets I’ve thought about Muskets and Tomahawks as it appeals to some of my experiences as a boy growing up and going to re-enactments in Indiana here in the US. I remember going to events for Feast of the Hunter’s Moon and Battle of the Mississinewa and learning about the Miami at that time and think that historical skirmishes might be interesting with some sort of mental connection that way.

Should one also include multiple factions if you have more than the basics? I’ve got three more teams for BB that I’ll need to paint with a few more that I’d like to get together. Tzeentch and Slaanesh may have actually gotten rules in some esoteric 2012 House Rules teams and in the Living Rulebook 6.0. I’m not so keen that Slaanesh has the Dark Elf cultists for their base players but I’m happy to know that there was some attention paid to the other Chaos elements other than Nurgle. I guess I can tack on the Khorne team as well to round it all out

    2012 House Rules from SCRIBD

    2012 House Rules from SCRIBD-2

    2012 House Rules from SCRIBD-3

I haven’t played them all. I look forward to painting them all but I think Clan War is best to keep around as a painted force and throw into mini agnostic games.

I have not painted the minis that came in the boxes. I plan on doing so with the greatest of care to allow them to be display pieces if I don’t get around to using them all the time.

@limburger Tool! Yes!!! Green Jelly! Yes!!!

@danlee DM me your addy so I can kick out that figure.

Mrs Blinky and I recently took a bit of a road trip down to Cornwall (from Brighton). We found this amazing place called Polperro.

    Image1

One of the amazing things about it, is that there are no cars allowed. It’s an idea I’ve banged on about for about twenty years (just think, it could solve so many issues currently facing us here in the UK – reduce congestion, improve air quality, fight obesity, encourage local shopping etc). But to drive into a village and then be told by a massive sign to park up in the car park and walk the last half mile or so was quite impressive.

    Image1b

Polperro is absolutely beautiful. We would have stayed longer.

Except Mrs Blinky fell out of the campervan on the first night and broke her pelvis – so we had to hot-foot it back home and get her into a local hospital (in case she needed to stay in for a few days!). So we’re back home now. And I’m back making cool projects (in between all the fetching and carrying and cooking and making cups of teas) – the latest is Knight Riders’ KITT – https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1566121/?order=asc

    So, onto the questions:

    • How many game systems do you own?About ten. Including Blood Bowl and Space Hulk and Space Crusade. I’ve a couple of game-agnostic rulesets (the One Hour Wargames book is pretty cool) and I just bought Reality’s Edge. I’ve a zombie survival game somewhere (forget the name) Dead Man’s Hand and a few rulesets from DriveThruRPG. I love painting miniatures and more recently making terrain but I’m not actually a big gamer
    • Have you played them all? Of course not. But looking forward to trying out Dead Man’s Hand and Reality’s Edge – I’ve heard lots of great reviews for both
    • Have you painted all miniatures that came in the respective (core/beginner) boxes? Hahhahah hahahaha hahaha ha ha ha.

Pledges – Earthworm Jim is almost finished. But I started a new project. Ooops. So I guess I’d better pledge to finish something this week. Finish Earthworm Jim. AND Knight Rider (hey, let’s get ambitious!)

Music – just give it a go. See if there’s anything you recognise in there:

@blinky465 Sorry to hear about your wife breaking her pelvis. I hope she recovers soon as I imagine that is very debilitating.

This week’s pledge is to paint another batch of Kingdom Death miniatures. Hobby has taken a bit of a beating in the last week (first being distracted by The Boys season 1, then a few days with my daughter in hospital – all good now though).

    1. How many game systems do you own? (Miniature wargaming and “entry level” drugs board games like Blood Bowl, Hero Quest ect.) – Eleven, including board games with large model counts like Conan and Mythic Battles. I’m excluding old GW specialist games that have been retired to my loft for over a decade.
    2. Have you played them all? – Nope. Not played Nightvault as I bought it just before lock down. I’ve played everything else though.
    3. Have you painted all miniatures that came in the respective (core/beginner) boxes? – The only thing not painted is the latest AoS starter box (its for playing with my daughter so only undercoated) and Kingdom Death Monster, which is currently WIP.

@danlee so you say you’ve painted almost all your minis? You live dangerously! 😉 Never paint your last mini *g*

@sundancer The question was “have you painted all the minis in the respective core/beginners boxes?” I have plenty of unpainted miniatures. My target for this year is to paint them all, but realistically I will only paint up everything I had bought at the start of 2020. Most of the stuff I bought this year will be sat in the queue.

@danlee – that’s a relief. Nobody is actually sure what might happen if someone ever paints all their minis. But I’ve heard it’s bad things, so it’s probably best that we never find out.

You’re right about a broken pelvis – it really is debilitating…. for me! I’ve got to do all the cooking, up and down making a brew all the time, making sure Mrs Blinky is in need of nothing before I can sneak off to my end-of-garden workshop to do some printing and painting! Her breaking her pelvis is really eating into my hobby time 😉

(I’ll send her your good wishes)

@horati0nosebl0wer – I can’t pretend to be a fan of “world music” but that first piece was really nice; is that a real instrument she’s playing? What on earth is it called? A single stringed viola or something? Amazing.

    @blinky465 just don’t try to fix her pelvis with superglue… don’t… 😉
