    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Questions:

    • New game from G’Wullu: will it be 10th edition Whamster or a new Space Hulk?
    • Spring Clean challenge 2023: have you already something “at the ready”? How much dust was needed to be remove?
    • St. Patricks Day: have you sobered up yet?

And now back to the show.

Pledge: no pledge, garden needs attending. Maybe some painting, one game on Thursday.

    Answers:

    • Don’t care! It’ll be way to expensive, overhyped and sold out within seconds (if it’s a new SH, 10th will have a slightly longer shelf life)
    • Too many projects to even start selecting. Analysis paralysis in full swing again!
    • No. Wasn’t drunk. Was too tired to get up and get a beer from the fridge.

    Music!

    Don’t care for similar reasons.

Probably won’t challenge myself. I just paint what I need for next RPG session. This week it was a unicorn and a swamp.

    Not irish. Not drunk.

It is Monday and I hope all of our Irish friends have survived their indulging in alcohol. Not much hobby happened on the weekend.

Not really any hobby happened to me.

Let’s start the week with some nice music!

Will there be much rigging done? 8)

    No frigging rigging.

It’s a total arse to assemble.

It does look a bit fiddly to assemble judging by the pictures. Stay sane! 😉

I’ve named it the Sea Bitch because of how much of a bitch it is to assemble.

Some of it is easy, but the hull is multiple layers of planks which takes time.

Worst design feature is that because it’s almost 2 feet long and on A4 laser cut, it has a join in the middle making the centre a very weak link in the structure, as it’s joined by couple of bits of mdf.

I’m planning to base it on wood when assembled and hopefully with removable masts for storage… another good reason for no rigging.

Sanity is all a matter of perspective. I’m not dangerously insane, but there’s something wrong with everyone in this hobby 🙂

As long as you don’t start running around stabbing people to death with MDF offcuts all is fine 😉

    Already Wednesday.

uHH was short but fun, sorry for the music levels being to high.

So with Adepticon around the corner, let’s see what news will be brought to us. My guesses so far:

    • Star Wars: X-Wing new starter sets. There have been photos (not renders) popping up for two boxes with 4 ships each. One Rebell and one Imperial. Considering Asmodee Germany is currently making a huge sale for core sets it really feels like “there is something coming”. Especially since the rules 2.5 are somehow “online only” and very vague to me.
    • Star Wars: Legion new sets. Already confirmed for the 40th anniversary of RotJ there will be Ewoks. Already leaked are pictures from a Ashoka Tano mini (which had been confirmed prior on a stream also).  If I were a gambling man I’d say there might be also a new core set around the corner. Maybe a re-relase of the first box or a breakdown more along the lines of “getting started” army deals and rules seperatly
    • Warhammer 40k 10th edition maybe? Weird trailer could also be Space Hulk.
    • Battletech Kickstarter will start and maybe CGL will have some more surprises.

Anybody any other ideas, leaks and rumours? Stay tuned!

Well well well… time moves fast. Yesterday CGL already shared details on the Battletech Mercenaries Kickstarter.

    merc

At first I was all “oh no! the last KS was much cheaper”. And *technically* I am correct. My last pledge was:

    Clan Invasion:
    Pledge US$ 50 or more
    STAR COMMANDER

Command an entire Star of the Clans’ finest war machines. This pledge rewards you with a new piece of BattleTech fiction (digital format, delivered during the campaign), a copy of the Clan Invasion box set, and your choice of available Clan Challenge Coins.

    ‘MECH COUNT: 5
    Includes:

Free Short Story (digital format, delivered during the campaign)
    Clan Challenge Coin
    Clan Invasion Box Set

    clan-invasion

So ignoring all the stretch goals that was 5 mechs for 50 USD

Now if we take a closer look on the Merc box picture we see:

    ‘MECH COUNT: 8
    Vehicle count: 4
    1 Challenge Coin
    “Double Blind” digital novel
    4″ Timber Wolf

That is 8 ‘mech for 80 USD (same price per mini) PLUS you get 4 vehicles and a 4″ display Mad Cat/Timber Wolf.

So did the “base pledge for new product” get more expensive? Yes. Do we get more stuff? Also yes. It’s still “more money” and there is no news yet on what shipping and import fees might add up to.

    But I am excited!

    Next thing confirmed:

    Via twitter from AMG

Begin building your Rebel squadrons in #StarWarsXWing with the Rebel Alliance Squadron Starter Pack, coming soon! Featuring 4 iconic ships and everything you need to play #XWing, this pack is the perfect starting point.

    https://shop.asmodee.com/rebel-alliance-squadron-starter-pack-swz106en

Begin building your Imperial squadrons in #StarWarsXWing with the Galactic Empire Squadron Starter Pack, coming soon! Featuring 4 iconic ships and everything you need to play the game, this pack is the perfect starting point for new players.

    https://shop.asmodee.com/galactic-empire-squadron-starter-pack-swz105en

So basically they added one more ship, made the starter box “one faction only” and upped the price from $47.99 to $74.99

33% more ships but 56% more money. Am I the only one thinking that’s really greedy? To be honest when I thought about a potential new base set I was contemplating if I would restart X-Wing. But at that cost? Noooooooooope!

    Good morning.

Jupp it was Whamster 10th edition. “Gameplay like you have never seen”.  That always sounds…. worrying to me.

    Now coffee.

“Gameplay like you have never seen”

Translation… we broke 9th edition with rules bloat and codexes. Everything you own is worthless now… so we’re giving away a few pdfs to compensate you… unless you want to buy these shiny cards we are selling…
