Some more music.
I’ve long been a fan of the Wildhearts and Ginger Wildheart (the lead singer who has regenerated more times than Doctor Who). So when he says “here’s a catchy pop-y guitar-y song you should love” he’s not often wrong.
This song is flippin’ awesome.
August 17, 2020 at 11:52 pm #1559744@crazyredcoat Robb Stark looks great! Luvit! I have a huge Game of Thrones backlog too. Once I get through my ‘smaller games collection’ and fire out some GW stuff I will get back to it with a lazerbeam focus. I have all the KS stuff PLUS a Nights Watch starter to do. I have maybe… two direwolves and Reek painted fully. Honestly though, my armies will be two thin basecoats and a wash and that will be it for the most part (characters and front ranks notwithstanding): it will be the only way I ever get them all ‘finished’.
How are your Ultramarines looking? Thanks, but I am not there yet. Almost at the 200 mark though.
@scribbs Honestly, maybe ten models a month. However I:(1) always give myself low target goals to underestimate not pressure myself
(2) tend not to make yearly goals
(3) have varying intensities of enthusiasm that ebbs and flows
(4) when I play a game (it happened with my Arcworlde collection earlier in the year which was gathering dust until me and the Girlfriend played, I swiftly completed it all within a few months which is plogged elsewhere here) or get ready for a tournament I go into overdrive (there is a campaign/league in Dungeons and Donuts Galway soon and I am going to tear into my 500 pt Necrons shortly to get them battlefield ready)
@horati0nosebl0wer I wonder if the rare parrot is a natural or was he taught that.Yup that’s the goal and I am nearly 2/3 of the way there. We all have different time available and standards. My standard could be rubbish compared to you and ergo a lesser output despite quantity. Hm, I actually technically did another one on top of that with the statue I did from the 3d printed materials you provided. I also assembled and primed a bunch of other stuff on top of what I built.
Are you saying I should aim to do 365?
I wonder if I should do a forum post with all my output for the year in it…

Okay, I better start posting some photos (dimly lit from my GF’s living room) of the minis I sort-of finished today. And some music!
August 18, 2020 at 12:57 am #1559745Thanks, @mage ! I only have the starter box to get through, but I have all the Umbers from it done already! My Ultramarines haven’t had too much work done because I just got bored of painting blue and all the tirade of 40k changes I lost interest in it a fair bit. I’ll go back to it, eventually, but I just get annoyed that my ‘new’ army is now already woefully out-classed by the ‘new new’ army that just got released… Just too expensive to keep up, to be honest. I am enjoying the Game of Thrans stuff, and it’s mostly what my project is right now…though once I get my Captain Tom Moore he will take precedence for a week or so. 😛
August 18, 2020 at 2:41 am #1559750August 18, 2020 at 3:38 am #1559751Okay those photos did not load up in the proper order. Today I put the finishing touches on two of the bases and started working on the bases. The Agrellan Earth took ages to dry. Tomorrow they will get a wash, time to dry and drybrushing and rims, then varnish.
Umbers are sweet. Complicated enough models: skin, cloth, metal, wood, capes and fur. So many details.
Get painting man, all your Marines now have two wounds. That’s awesome. Play Crusade instead (narrative). Screw competitive and meta.
August 18, 2020 at 6:55 am #1559753I have around 1000 points painted, already, and I have to wait until I can easily play with my brothers before I can try the new rules. 😛
August 18, 2020 at 9:20 am #1559784@crazyredcoat try not to worry too much about the ‘new new version’ of a game. There’s nothing that says “you must have ze latest rules! or else …”
Side note … I’m 3 days into my yearly two week holiday and finally the temperature is getting back to ‘normal’, which means I should no longer be too hot to do some hobby.
I can either try and finish the stuff I’ve got for my two projects or open up the indomitus box …I’ve got a few ideas how to paint the marines, but nothing solid. Definitely going to re-think my idea of doing them in Orange as I picked the wrong primer for that idea to work. However that creates the problem of having an army that has two uniforms. Which would have made sense if they were beakies, but with the ‘veterans’ of the crusade that doesn’t make a lot of sense. Maybe find some sort of Holy Crusade style colour scheme to make sense of this ?
Not sure yet how to paint the necrons. I don’t feel like doing a standard egyptian terminator style with all the metal and gold.
Needs something different that fits with their ‘back from the dead’ style that isn’t too tricky to paint.August 18, 2020 at 11:33 am #1559830I took a break from painting minis and soldering ridiculously tiny LEDs and drybrushed some buildings. They turned out pretty nice! Mrs Blinky’s brickwork looks really good, even up close.
The 3d printed windows were a nice finishing touch but they still need some acetate or something as glass just to finish them off. I quite like the clean look on the roll-shutter door. So – of course – my wife is insistent on adding some graffiti to it!
August 19, 2020 at 5:58 am #1559931Good morning everybody. That was a very fun and informative uHH last night. And I had an idea…. maybe I should rename the uHH to the… wait for it…
“Tim and Gerry Show” XD
Your thoughts on that @avernos ? 😉
Anyway: Good morning everybody. Some music:
