My pledge. Is to put my new pc together so I can resume sculpting my goblins. The old pc couldn’t take the abuse.
UK games expo. konflikt 47 really surprised me. (I thought it was dead). I love bolt action in general so happy to see it have a refresh. Dead man’s hand newer additions to the game also had me smiling.
June 1, 2025 at 1:24 am #1931116Konflikt 47 had a fair amount of promise, even for Korean War early war. It would be cool to see that come back.
June 1, 2025 at 10:55 am #1931161There have been more than a few hints that they were working on a new version of Konflikt ’47 last year as they announced famous people joining their ranks for the game …
Only surprise was seeing it made public at the expo. Not sure if they have mentioned when it is coming back.

@sundancer it’s internal wiring of a house from the 60’s.
The stiff solid core is standard. It was like that in my old appartment as well.
Altough I suspect that the age of the wiring makes it a bit stiffer than it should be?AFAIK strains are only used for extension cords and never for actual wiring, but then I’m no electrician with access to the latest standards. (I did get to learn about this stuff ages ago at school, which is why I know what each colour wire represents.)
The worst part is that it is too expensive (and a bit overkill) to hire an expert for this sort of thing. OTOH I’m now tempted to do just that for the one light fixture I still need to install.

Good luck in sourcing cheap parts XD
@limburger yes, internal wiring is extra hard. It needs to be able to withstand some loads but of course the ageing on the plastic around the cable does not help. At 60+ years you might want to think about replacing the wiring and the fuses. And yes, propper copper will get expensive fast. Not sure how that work in you country but here we would need to have it checked by a Master in electrics after we’ve done the rewiring.Sunday.
No XLBS
Sad.
June 1, 2025 at 7:21 pm #1931323plastic around the cable was fine.
We don’t have fuses like the good ol’ days (I’m not even sure you can buy even them?).
They’re just some sort of fancy switches. I don’t know the proper words for them.
I think that’s one of the things that got replaced ages ago in most houses, unless you’re unlucky enough to get one that “needs a bit of work”. At a guess it’s something that became mandatory in the 90’s ?
According to the paperwork this house was a former rental property the previous owners bought.Rewiring is definitely something a licensed electrician would have to do. If I ever get solar panels then I’d have to let them replace the switch board (or whatever it’s called where the utilities enter the house and the meters are). It’s on my wish list, because I do like the idea of them. There’s no way there’s a good return on that investment from a pure financial perspective though.
Anyways … enough adulting.
I’m slowly getting ideas as to how to add bits to my gaming room. Some form of rubber/EVA foam tile is next. Technically it’s one of those things I should have done first, but that’s the problem of not having any ideas except the need for a big table.
I’ve also been looking at classic industrial outdoor lights that would fit the bunker/spaceship theme I am starting to envision (still not sure it’s going to be the final theme … but at least I’m starting to get actual ideas now 😉 ).
And the one thing I really want : ‘red alert’ lights of some kind.(at least with smart bulbs there’s no actual need to change the bulb 😀 )
June 1, 2025 at 10:35 pm #1931369Pledge update: I had a lovely afternoon yesterday and all day today painting tiny fighting men, bliss. I have made good progress and finished one unit of 10 cavalry and got most of the way through a unit of 15 infantry as well. Updates on the cav. are in my project here.
Busy day tomorrow after my eBay sales finished and need packing. Hopefully there will be a bit of time to get a flag on the infantry standard bearer and get them varnished and based. That will mean there are three units left and as many weeks of Spring Clean Challenge to get them done. I might just get it finished!

Hope you lot that where at UKGE have evaded con crud.
I’ll be busy setting up my new smartphone today. Hopefully that ends the journey of me having to restart my phone every time I go from one room to the next
Now: Coffee
June 2, 2025 at 7:57 am #1931431Pledge:
I will get atleast one set of resculpted legs attached to the hippocampi riders. I might be bold and get a second resculpted.
Answer for the Week:
UKGE, too much to follow as I clean my place before another move. I should sit down and catch it as there’s so much to process. I think also getting into the swing of going back to old projects and clearing the backlog (simultaneously I can neither confirm nor deny adding more work for Future Me).
@sundancer build some AC? Are you building your air-conditioning from the ground up?
@grantinvanman First, condolences to you and your wife. That was indeed a long run of life. Second, are you saving the cost of a real version of you guitar and turning around to invest in your miniature collection? That’s the important place to put your hard earned cash as we all can agree.
@limburger The Swedish Shoppe is a place where gamers lose nerve to storage need. Good luck on your purchases.
@pagan8th Bargain hunting can indeed be a trade off but sometimes it does yield great results. I’m very happy with another colossus that will be worked on soon.
@wormfooduk In the parlance of internet cats with regard to your goblins… “I can has shortstacks?”Now, musician
And because there needs to be absurdity
June 2, 2025 at 8:12 am #1931435Well, sort of? My Nocaster is bloody expensive, but so worth it. Got it home today. My god, under 6lbs. I swear! For a Tele type guitar, that’s insane.
I could take photos of my unbuilt stack: it’s GROSS. Like, backroom of a GW store bad.
Money wise, life is fine; can’t lie.
Priorities:
1. Rewire the Harley to have a new ignition.
2. Get the Mrs a new ring. Yeah; not kidding.
3. one year out: trip to Europe, maybe rent motorcycle and do mountains.June 2, 2025 at 8:34 am #1931436build some AC? Are you building your air-conditioning from the ground up?
Let’s say “yes” dear Mr. @horati0nosebl0wer and let’s not get confused with the Warcradle boxes from last stream XD
June 2, 2025 at 12:16 pm #1931470Pledge done ✔️
June 2, 2025 at 5:24 pm #1931482@horati0nosebl0wer my game room is now about 95% furniture from ye olde Swedish Shoppe.
Truth be told it’s quite good for the money and best of all : it’s available right then and there.
I remember walking into a furniture store and after ‘buying’ still needing to wait for a few months before it would be delivered.
Not sure how much time was needed for my bedroom furniture … but it can’t have been fast either.Never mind that modern furniture isn’t that much better than whatever they have. The only real difference is that they manage to hide the screws and such better. And you still get particle board and the like for most of it.
Anyways … it’s nice when things are finally taking shape.
I’ve got a few ideas for the rest of my house, but (a) they’re only ideas at this point and (b) I’d probably would have to win the lottery. It doesn’t help that I don’t always succeed in keeping myself motivated and focused on a single task. A 4 day weekend and only one and a half day were spent on actually doing the work.
June 3, 2025 at 6:24 am #1931503Tuesday.
Do I need to say more?
Yes, I have coffee and done no hobby at all. Sadly. Lazy me.
June 3, 2025 at 8:03 pm #1931669Some morons doing a repair on someone elses phone line managed the sever my phone line with their truck.
Broadband down until tomorrow.
Idiots.
