Does anybody know where I can get pewter , resin  ,  plastic or 3D printed  Soviet WW2 Maxim MG Ammo Boxes in 1/56 scale ? Going through my collection of Soviet troops , I realized that most of the machine gun crews have minimal ( 1 or none ) ammo boxes . This just bugs me to no end . It might not mean much for the game but I like to have my troops kitted out as realistically as possible , meaning MG troops have multiple ammo boxes and belts .  1/48 scale could work also if the kit supplied boxes were replaced . Most are actually under sized or not even close to the real thing like a lot of artillery kit supplied ammo boxes but that’s a rant for anther day

If you can’t find appropriate kits I’d take some of the boxes and make silicone moulds and cast my own in either resin or something like plaster.

Casting would be good way to go if boxes weren’t molded to the figures bodies and were generic in appearance . They don’t look anything like the real boxes I’m afraid . The good news is I’ve heard back from someone on one of the plastic model kit sites I lurk in , and he steered me to Super Hobby out of Poland that carries EMP3d printed 1/48 scale cans . I ‘ve ordered a few of the Maxim as well as the DSHK heavy mg type and some for my MG34 gun crews . At about $3.50 US for 5 cans , its worth checking out . If they don’t work with my BA stuff I do have a few Tamiya 1/48 Russians that could use them as you get the Maxim in the kit but no boxes or belts .

Depending on what Russian war movie you’re watching , sometimes they all have belts of bullets , especially those Soviet sailor types .
