so just had an email from the folks behind Warhammer 40,000:Conquest and it would appear that the partworks will be going live from the 29th of August. If you signed up when they were gauging interest you should receive the first 3 issues for free.
So, anyone tempted?
August 20, 2018 at 5:50 pm #1255018Will be giving it a miss; have too much to paint/build as is and have zero interest in the Nurgle stuff.
Also, they really should have called it ‘Battle Games in the Imperium’. ?
August 20, 2018 at 6:19 pm #1255019Oh I don’t know, if nothing else buying a load of issue one for what, £1.99 for a whole mess of Primaris? That seems like a good plan ?
August 20, 2018 at 8:28 pm #1255080Only really interested for any exclusive minis such as that Primaris Captain. So I’ll probably pick up one or two issues here and there if I can get hold of them
August 21, 2018 at 2:07 pm #1255359That’s fair. I might see about keeping a running post here in the forums to let folks know what is in each issue to make cherry picking like that easier….
August 21, 2018 at 2:46 pm #1255369Don’t get me wrong I think it’s a nice idea to get into the hobby. I remember picking up the Battle games in middle earth magazine they did. That really kickstarted that game for me and got my deeply involved in the hobby.
August 21, 2018 at 9:47 pm #1255627@dawfydd I’ve been waiting for this. Just need to find a marine player to split figures with. I believe you get paints and a brush with first issue. I’d pay #1.99 for that
@commanderkaiser my local group all bought a stack of issue 1 of that for the paints and pretty much a goblin army
August 25, 2018 at 10:43 pm #1257516So now this is a very interesting image taken from the trailer Warhammer TV released for Conquest. looks like subscribers who stick the course are set for a c***-load of Death Guard, Loyalist Astartes and a mass of terrain.
Vincent Knotley did the hard legwork and broke the numbers down:
https://vincentknotley.wordpress.com/2018/08/22/warhammer-40000-conquests-rumoured-value/
So what it breaks down to is you pay £625 in total for the base subscription of 80 issues, against £876 for the various minis. Now yes I can see folks wanting some Xenos or non-transhuman minis being disappointed by the Power Armour-fest we get here, but I can safely say that If some of the minis in that image are correct (I think I see all the Primaris character kits in there), and they still sell the issues with them for £7.99 on the Hachette website I’ll be double-dipping at least on extras of those issues.

August 25, 2018 at 10:47 pm #1257517And @woldenspoons yeah, we did that as well for BGIME. Still gutted I dropped out midway through as when I came back the hobby and gaming content was just top tier, with some superb modelling & painting guides along with fresh scenarios and profiles. Neverdid get around to filling the 15 or so issue gap….
August 25, 2018 at 10:57 pm #1257518Partworks seem to have a poor record at this sort of thing given some customers reviews
August 26, 2018 at 12:50 am #1257541I was sorely tempted. If there was such a thing as a half price single faction subscription, I’d potentially have done it. As it is, trying to split the subscription with somebody, or sell all the death guard stuff just feels like too much hassle.
August 26, 2018 at 7:56 am #1257603I’ve been scouring shops for this. Then read thread title. I’ll slow my roll then haha.
August 29, 2018 at 12:13 pm #1259631It’s out, I’ve picked up 3, it’s amazing value. Won’t get them all but will pick up the odd one.
August 29, 2018 at 12:46 pm #1259691Yeah, £1.99 for 3 easy to build Primaris, a Standard Citadel paint brush and three regular pots of paint is stupid good. I got three, may have to get some more ?
August 29, 2018 at 1:47 pm #1259746I just wish they did a “Scenary Issues Only” tier of subscription. I would totally go for that but I don’t particularly need an army of Primaris or Deathguard whilst building an AM force.
Seems an odd choice to me that they’re making it two standing armies. Means anyone collecting it is going to have to wait several years to ge them all and then be left with two armies rather than getting one more quickly that they get around to completing sooner before moving onto a series 2 or whatever.
I dunno. *shrugs*
