The Mighty Mortarion Stalks The Land With Forge World

May 21, 2014 by brennon

Forge World previewed this mighty Primarch over the weekend at a Horus Heresy event and now Mortarion is stepping out onto the battlefield to reap himself a rich tally of souls...

Mortarion (Front)

Mortarion (Rear)

"The shadowed and sinister Mortarion was Primarch and Commander of the Death Guard Legion. Raised upon a nightmare world of fell secrets and necromantic horror where humans were hunted like animals, the darkness that surrounded him seeped into his soul and would never leave him. Fiercely driven and relentless, the reaper-Primarch led his Legion to become wrathful liberators, spectres of death and judgment to whom no battlefield was insurmountable and no foe too terrible to face. With lies and half-truths did Horus sway Mortarion to his cause, and the price that he and his Legion would pay for their role in the Heresy would be nightmarish beyond imagining."

Quite the deadly looking foe but it doesn't change the fact that a scythe is still a terrible looking weapon when you're trying to use it in combat. Something about it just looks very strange indeed and although they've tried to show him in the act of reaping through foes he just looks very awkward.

It's a shame because the armour and detail across the rest of the model is so amazingly good. Alas I think this one might be for fans of Mortarion alone.

What do you think? Is it not as awkward as I first thought?
