Games Workshop has now added a revamped Starter Set to their collection for those getting into Age of Sigmar. Taking the old Island of Blood set they've now tweaked it to become Spire Of Dawn...

Spire Of Dawn

The set contains two full armies of both Skaven and Aelfs led by a Skaven Warlord and the High Warden on Griffon.

Skaven Warlord

This was a well sought after Starter Box and it contains a lot of models that you just can't get anywhere else. So, bringing it back to the fore not only tells more of a story about the Skaven and Aelfs but brings miniatures back into the limelight for collectors.

Aelf High Warden On Griffon

As well as containing the rules to play the game it also comes with Warscrolls for each and some Pitched Battle plans too for those who want to have a points match on the tabletop.

A little more on the fluff for this set...

"The Dawnspire stands at the edge of the Transient Isles. Immense, drifting islands of black stone hanging in the air above an azure sea, they were once the subject of foul sorceries, a powerful Chaos wizard seeking to bring them crashing down. The mages of the Eldritch Council were able to stop this foul ritual, but not before two of the islands were lost to the depths.

Aelfs
To protect the isles, the Dawnspire was created; housing objects of incredible power, it is protected by the most elite warriors the Transient Isles have ever known. Yet cruel eyes glow in the corners of the realms. fixated on the Dawnspire, intent on harnessing its power for their own dark purpose…"

Skaven

While of course this is in effect an easy way for Games Workshop to sell some more models that are probably sitting in the warehouse they've done it in a style where I think folks are going to be rather happy with the release.

Maybe we'll start to see more from the Aelfs as things develop as we step away from what has now become the Sylvaneth to explore these armour clad warriors.

What do you think?
