Over the weekend, we got a massive amount of reveals for the worlds of Warhammer. One of the best previews for me was for Warhammer: The Old World which, whilst small, gave us a look at what the team at Games Workshop have planned for returning to The World That Was.

The focus of this return to The Old World is going to be on the time of The Three Emperors. The Empire is stuck in the midst of a brutal civil war and there are enemies at the gates including a brewing Chaos army in the north. However, there is also a threat from the south where the Tomb Kings of Khemri are looking to take control of kingdoms that they believe should be theirs, eternally.

With that in mind, we got a look at a brand new miniature for the Bretonnians in the form of this mighty Paladin. A questing knight, this fellow travels the land looking to slay all manner of beasts in the name of The Lady. The miniature comes with a few different options and will be fashioned out of Forge World resin when The Old World finally releases.

Going up against this mighty Paladin are "the dry undead" as Gerry would call them. You can't raise an army of long-dead soldiers without a Tomb King and there is a very fine looking fellow coming to lead the way for the forces of Khemri soon too.

Both of the miniatures really seem to have captured that look and feel of The Old World and the classic aesthetic of Warhammer Fantasy Battles. They feel like they would line up perfectly with the 8th Edition miniatures that we got before The End Times hit.

Again, this miniature looks to be coming out in resin from Forge World but as Games Workshop said during the presentation, there will be a mix of releases when The Old World finally arrives. You're going to get old plastic kits returning alongside new plastic options for a range of different armies. This will then be bolstered by Forge World and its resin releases. It seems like it's going to be released very much in the same style as Warhammer: The Horus Heresy.

Warhammer: The Old World Preview

A roadmap of sorts was also laid out for Warhammer: The Old World. The focus is most certainly going to be on the Bretonnians and Tomb Kings, to begin with, but every faction and unit that was available in 8th Edition will see support when The Old World comes out.

However, the team are going to be looking at the armies in particular that would have been fighting in this specific time period and conflict. So, that means that it might be a while before we see the forces of Cathay or Ogre Kingdoms for example. Lots of Empire goodness, Wood Elves, Bretonnians, Tomb Kings and I'd reckon a fair few Chaos miniatures will be on the way too.

It's all very exciting and I can't wait to see the launch box they come up with!
