I loved the Horrible Histories books when I was younger, and I still read them from time to time now. Highly informative and very funny too! Well I spied this thanks to their Facebook page and it certainly sounds fun. Check out the Horrible Histories Catapult Game...

Horrible Histories Egyptian Catapult Set

This is obviously a game for kids so bear with me on this, when I was watching the video I realised it not only had miniatures, but a system to it as well thanks to the gaming cards. Despite it being for the youngsters amongst up I reckon this would be a lot of fun!

Horrible Histories Roman Catapult Set

As well as the sets you see above for the Romans and Egyptians you can buy extra Heroes that boost your effectiveness with the Catapult and give you bonuses for each attack.

Viking Berserker

Boudica

Blackbeard

Not only is this game going to teach your kids a little bit about the different personalities in history but it's going to help them look at things like strategy too. I think Blackbeard might be a little bit overpowered but this is 'Timmy's first wargame'!

It's by no means a perfect game but it will introduce young people to the idea of miniatures (maybe you'll even want to paint them up a bit better!), game mechanics and you get to throw pigs at each other too! What's not to like?

The best bit of the game is taking the heads of your enemies and mounting them on spikes. I want that in Warhammer 40,000.

What do you think?
