i first thought the pile would be a melee pile or rather another XD melee is going stroing in the camp 😉
Bad rolls plague us all
@rot6 – assaults are indeed deadly in Bolt Action. Very decisive. Honestly, I didn’t see that many of them on the tables, however.
@patrickkyle82 – Indeed. Id say ha;f of what makes a good wargamer is the ability to mitigate bad dice rolls. War at this level is little more than managed chaos.
the small vids over the days about infantry engagments were mostly about melee medals getting handed out and the substitute match on saturday had 3 big melees. Those were won by the sikhs of course. Praise Amara the giving! 😉
I was pleasantly surprised by how many players chose to build their “British” army based on some kind of Commonwealth option – Sikh, Punjab, ANZAC, etc.
bad rolls are worst than bombs
congrats
Agree, @toricova and @normandyfan.
the dice gods give and take away
death by firing squad harsh
@dukeexeter – @wilco92 Sounds like when @damon kept the opponent pinned in the center, not only did this pin the center, but also isolated the wings from each other. Basically cut the enemy army into thirds.
It wasn’t quite that harsh … because my machinegunners did manage to hold the 8th army of for quite a while.
Heck, I had one lonely machinegunner pretty much succeed in wiping out one of the squads on his own.
And of course there was the “don’t panic” moment a bit earlier in this game.
Awesome! 😀
Nicely done
Impressive to table someone, doesn’t happen often
@lawnor and @collins – a complete table wipe out is rare? I suppose I would agree, given the importance of pins rather than outright kills.
I think for an experienced Bolt-action player vs a total noob like me it isn’t that unexpected.
Hindsight being what it is I think I missed out on one important rule : my HQ and his ability to pull 2 order dice (2nd Lt using German special rule : Blitzkrieg).
It’s possible that I was not aggressive enough on my left flank.
However keeping at least one of my squads on the left flank in ambush also prevented him from bringing up the medium machine gun team.
So I’d call that a successfull delaying action in my book.
No worries at all, @limburger – we learn by doing! 😀
@oriskany : I’m not worried at all. It was fun.
I’m just glad those weren’t real men 😀
Imagine this being a real war and a junior commander does the sort of stuff I did. *ouch*
Autsch!
Dice rolls are always something that can be done better.
@andre77 and @khy0te – at least @limburger‘s not alone, the Germans were losing a lot of games early in the campaign.
brits are doind so well here.
all hail the dice gods.
@radegast6 and @zorg … Indeed the Germans are getting hammered in the campaign here. If only we didn’t also see this in the last desert war boot camp, where the Germans lost many many games, only to mount an amazing comeback at the end …
You could get the guy’s to put a link so people can re watch the bootcamp video’s ?
Are you talking about the last FoW 4.0 boot camp? There’s a YouTube playlist available.

Yes that’s the one.
Thats rough with luck being against you
That’s a tough result to obtain. Congrats and commiserations.
@lupa15 and @fireblarney – pins for the win, unless you’re playing against @damon. In which case only a total “table tenderizer” will do.
Congratulations!
Cool
Indeed, congrats to @damon! 😀
Those dice gods….
Capricious little $h*ts, aren’t they? 🙂
