Dropfleet Commander Boot Camp – Friday

Catching Up With Nate – Why Did You Pick Scourge?
We're now chatting with Nate about why he went for the Scourge as his fleet of choice. I think you can guess the main reason and that's because they are rather pretty!
Well, pretty in their own weird way of course!
Evil Aliens
I bet they’d look great painted with some Alclad or other shiny metallic and then a series of washes with colors similar to a burnished effect on a “blued” piece of metal.
I’ve gone with the scourge myself. They look great in the studio colour scheme and it’s easy to achieve with glazes over a silver base colour. They fleet also plays well with its high speed and ability for all their frigates to hide in the atmosphere.
“Squid heads for Life”—Heck yeah!
I love the look of the scourge ships in Dropfleet. Though I’m more looking forward to shooting them up with my UCM.
now theres a faction that for the love of god mixes me up trying to remember names and ship types.
Rather amusing that the camera man spent the first half of the video looking at the phr models instead of the scourge the chap being interviewed was assembling. I’m guessing the guy behind the lens is a follower of a mystic golf ball 😉
Camera was pointed at PHR ships at the start guys – that might confuse some people 🙂
It definitely does!
But now we know, as grant143 said: The cameraman is a “follower of the mystic golf ball”.
I picke the Scourge up as 2nd faction
Squidheads, never thought of them as that. I take it their special attack is “Ink Spray”, and if not why not.
Yeaaah… good man, join the Alien side of life, we have squids ^^
I am with you http://noclear-studio.de/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/20161119_180915.jpg
Like the look of the Scourge, also want to see how their stealth rules play on the table
Funny, they talk Scourge, and show PHR ships first.
I think Warren’s shaft is a great name for a space station.
The scourge look really neat- I didn’t like them in photos, but they look way better IRL.
I agree that sometimes it can be tough to tell what is sprue and what is mini. Could we get a sprue map that shows where to cut each piece?
Great idea!
Something like that had been helpfull more than one time in the past.
More aliens to kill the better. Go guys, go! With your so called alien ‘goodness’.
Nate i like your way of calling them, squid heads. As my force of Scourge is my second force, well they came in the starter set, and when you think of it, they are the main enemy.
Scourge, always looking so pretty.
Its a valid tactic. Choose the prettiest (to you), and hope the game designers are good enough to balance things out that all options are viable.
I love the fact that the two battleships are a different breed of creature than the rest of the selection. That whole Scourge evolution thing is a cool idea.
The design of the scourge is surely interesting. They look difficult to assemble though. Any tips?
Hi mate nate here. They are stupidly easy to assemble . I was very surprised.
I really like that the squid wings can be fitted without glue. 🙂
My biggest fear withbthe Scourge is how to paint them in a way that even closely resembles the Hawk version. Do the sets or rules come with painting guides?
@mwcannon there is a colour suggestion/ recommended paints on the instructions.
Metal base, then lots of washes 🙂
Scourge represent!
Ahh scourge we are the phr and we do not fear you!
This is the one faction in my area that there is not a lot of…
Shiny Squids!! Nate, your aliens rock!
