Catching Up With Richard - First Game Thoughts (UCM)

We step in and chat with Richard about how things are going with his first game using UCM.

Interestingly, this features a bit of a training exercise/blue-on-blue battling as his opponent is also using UCM!

Like most everyone else, those large cascade explosions – even just hearing about them – sound like such a great mechanic. Can’t wait to get my hands on this and have some of these moments for myself.

We had a similar thing in our last game. Three firgates were in low orbit over a cluster and my opponent fired a single shot, needing a 6 to hit, in the vain hope of damaging one of my frigates. The resulting chain reaction took out all three frigates.

I’m glad your doing these vids as i usually have everything clumped up. knowing that is a bad idea ahead of my first game should help immensely.

Dangerous “knife fights” seem to happen fairly often in Dropfleet. I’ve found that you tend to get caught in explosions fairly often.

Mirror matches are pretty good to learn with though.

Hmmmmm some things make me a bit worried. Turning and weapons free, were all ships that exploded on the same orbital layer? Things like that.

Chain reactions = hilarity, even when you are on the wrong end of them!

boom goes the fleet. They have to stay close, but they better not blow up.
