Charlie Begins His Bolt Action Demo Game

Watch out for the demo game for Bolt Action, showing off the basics of the game later today. This is a little teaser as we’ve had a whole bunch of new people playing the game this weekend which is awesome to see.

The neat thing is that Bolt Action is SO easy to learn and just gets out of the way so you can enjoy the action.

I get to play bolt action about once a year. Getting to the table the rules and stats are a little worrying, but that all disappears within minutes of starting to play. It is a simple and fun game.

Looks awesome. I’m still working on getting my first bolt action game.

The rules are splendidly simple. Your newbies will get on just fine.

My local club just had a little bolt action tournament, and people who had never played it before had the code basics down in about 3 minutes. I think that’s the sign of a good game system.

The “order dice from a bag” – such a great gaming mechanic. Surprised it is not used in more tabletop games (yes, I’m looking at you 40K… and you too Zombie apocalypse game)

I notice Cass’ interest in the demo. Do we have a new player?

Bolt Action has elegant mechanics which seem a lot of fun (I have only ever watched it being played and my experience with the mechanics are through BtGoA…. but it seems to be quick to learn

With a good cheat sheet and unit cards (to reference weapon ranges) this game is stupendously easy to learn and hard to master.

*spoiler*

The demo ended with a technical win for the DAK.
I had one half of the light mortar team and my HQ left.
My opponent had a single squad of infantry.
In points that was advantage me, but TBH I’d say the British were in a better shape.

me too … although I definitely need to get my hobby space sorted first.
I also really need magnifying glasses and (day)lighting, because that definitely slowed me down at bootcamp.
