worth to mention to mark first where you want to drill and maybe punch little holes to help drill stay in place – but really simple and great idea for missing parts – congrats!
That’s why I always mark the models with a pen before making holes, cuts and such… Except when working on an ork model… Orks don’t care about precision.
😛
Nice idea for details though. I like the theory behind it as well (the wheres and whys).
Thumbs up, was getting 40k withdrawal symptoms lol
I already see someone pointed out the use of knocking a center before drilling.
looks pretty cool I might pick up some of this model mate stuff myself
scared stiff of trying weathering on some of my vehicles. Can anyone suggest a good starting point for a beginner? Are there any colours of vehicles to avoid trying it on? (Black?)
I would suggest starting with some light dust/mud on tracks. Check out the humbrol you tube channel they have a simple method where using there decal fix solution you can mix it with the weathering powders and apply, if once dry your not happy with the look it reactivates with water. Plus it also acts as a sealer for the powders too. Always go light to start with as more can be applied later harder to remove thou..like all things practice makes perfect and there’s a few vids on backstage from John showing various weathering techniques worth a watch 🙂
@johnlyons – great tutorial as I was wondering what to do with a Russ that I’m painting with the same issue as this one. What size drill bit did you use to make the holes?
