Justin Gets Some Paint Onto His PHR Fleet

Justin sits down with suetoniuspaulinus from the community to paint up his PHR fleet and get some additional colour onto these ships before getting in a game or two.

If you have any tips for Justin or indeed thoughts on how you'd paint your own fleet get them in the comments below.

Glad to see some other colours going on, those banana republic ships were starting to give me a headache.

If I was mad enough to paint a yellow fleet, I would try to add some other colours and try a wet blend, so from a yellow into an orange colour. Just so there is that variation. Or, add a yellow wash or two so the wash darkens the recesses in the ship (I dont know how many recesses there are in the ships as I havent seen any up close). Looks….. interesting though. And you needs enemies when you can be sarcasticly criticed by John and his “reference images”? 😛

I was thinking orange also, but that can’t be easy to blend well. I need to up my skills. 🙂

Well, that’s a nice bunch of ships just has in his fleet.

They look ripe for a sneak attack though.

Still, the fruit of his labours has some eye catching models.

I was actually fine with just a bright yellow fleet!

Now that’s an idea Justin, add eyes and a sharktooth mouth to the front of the ships….grinning Minions.

TIP: brown wash in between panel lines realy makes the yellow pop more.

This would be proof that the PHR really are Uplifted apes. Don’t call them MonKeighs. Oook.

So, if I understand, that’s the Asguardian Bananas fleet, uh? ^_^
Justin, the yellow color is perfect, don’t change a thing, that’s very cool!

should really paint the “internal” parts of the ships a “peeled banana” color 😉

Wasp Yellow and Black will looks sharp. Then there is the classic Taiidan Yellow and Red from Homeworld. A nice Dark Red for contrast can really make that Yellow shine.

i have a horrible feeling i may steal the color scheme.

Cypher above mentioned orange which got me thinking, I’d darken down the rear with an oil to show off the details, then maybe break up the main yellow on the top with a white or orange diagonal stripe, or even a darker colour would work.
Great work either way and im looking forward to seeing what Justin ends up doing

I really love the Yellow…. They look like the racecar fleet

I really like them, though I wonder if the flat yellow surfaces might need a shade of some kind, or something to make them glossy?

Needs another coat of gunmetal I’d say.

Maybe the Banana Fleet can slip past all the enemy defences 🙂

Also would be lovely with a bit of bronze drybrush at the edges. What colour of engines are you going for?
