Mixing Wash Medium With Tone

In the spirit of experimentation we take to the tabletop once again and show off what Stu has been doing as he explores just what happens when you do some interesting things with washes.

Take a look at see what you think of them right now and see if you would try this on your Undead.

Always good to see new ways to shade and tint. Very nice finish.

Have used this technique on my old war hammer plastic skeletons and wanted to tie in my new minis to the same scheme, the medium makes it easier to move the ink around and stops the chalky look you can get over the larger flat areas. Great stuff!

You can also DIY mix floor polish with paint to wash pigment into recesses like that, with the advantage that you are using the full range of colors available to you.

Any particular type of floor polish? We don’t really use anything like that in our home at the moment.

Sounds like the mixing medium is something I will have to get my hands on. That’s great because it helps to eliminate having good to go back over to base highlight.

I will have to ask my local store to start carrying that medium

Nice to see a different paint scheme and the differences between using the mixing wash medium and simply the quickshade.

I’m using this with ‘regular’ paint as well, and not just washes. I’m really happy with the result I get.

very cool tip, I like the look of both forces being green focused but I am a sucker for greens.

Hey thats just soo good…always were frustrated about toning the whole painted part and had to go over it again with the original colour and then a highligt…but this is the answer!

Mixing medium is nothing new. I think the GW Nihilac Oxide method gives much nicer ghostly effects.

is the medium part of the mega set we can win?

Definitely going to hunt some of that medium down and give it a try.
