Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition Demo Game

We’ve stopped in with Games Workshop to play through a Demo Game of the new Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition.

This new version of the game and Dark Imperium, that we’re using now, is now available for you to pre-order from the Games Workshop webstore.

Let us know what you think of the key mechanics on display here and if you’re going to be getting into the game.

Nice demo. I’m no 40K expert, but I listen to a few battle reports while painting. This seems a decent streamlining of the rules.

Enjoyed the demo, and did pre-order 8 earlier today. That demo board looks like it would be a nice addition to the game.

Interesting set, but would be good to see 8th ed scaled up to normal game size, and include terrain. I haven’t touched 40K in 20 years but I imagine you dont normally start out in the open 10 foot from the enemy?

Please forgive this shameless post as I’m going after either the 4Ground stuff or the Bushido stuff. I play Bushido here in the states. I teach it to whoever will listen, and I just try and represent it as it is. The best miniature game I’ve played.

Waited till Sunday to see this up close, I like the new marines and death guard looked great.

I’m very much looking forward to the new edition. Will probably use it as an excuse to start painting a new army.

I always liked the storyline on 40k but never got into it. I might be persuaded to do it now if I did not already so much other stuff lined up.

Boring. 40K just needs to collapse under the weight of its own mediocrity.

That said, 8th edition looks better than 3rd-7th, but still doesn’t do anything for me.

The game play here really has me interested, I’m not fussed on the new Marines yet, but i’m definitely liking the rules changes!

An impressive demo. I hope he doesn’t get into trouble for talking to BoW.

The minis are impressive and overall looks like a lot of changes, BUT as tempting as it looks I am not sure if it something I want to back or into again. There is whole world of games that has developed in the last lot of years and new concepts and designs that are I.m.h.o. way better than 40K.
