Wyrd Games has been showcasing another of the ways that you can dive into their new Fourth Edition of Malifaux. You could opt to go for the new Starter Set, which introduces some weird new creatures and characters into the mix for newcomers to this world and veterans.

New Two-Player Starter Set - Malifaux

New Two-Player Starter Set // Malifaux

As you might have guessed, this Starter Set comes with everything you need for getting started. You get two brand new crews alongside a Quickstart Guide, two Fate Decks (one for each player), Measuring Widgets and plenty of Markers and Tokens.

The two new Crews are particularly fascinating as they aren't what you'd expect! The first Crew is Ampersand...

Ampersand - Malifaux

Ampersand // Malifaux

The Ampersand Crew comes from the all-construct town of the same name and represents machines that were dubbed unfit, unreliable and broken. It's a proper clockwork nightmare of odds and ends, jerking their way across the tabletop.

Leading the way is the Clockwork Queen, Matriarch of the Machine, who comes backed up by Bucket Bot, Steiner, The Fortune Teller and three Mechanical Misfits. These should be really fun to paint (and quick), allowing you to be really playful with the schemes that you go for.

The second Crew represents The Banished, who are exiled servants of Meridion. They have been freed from their underwater prisons and are seeking revenge.

Banished - Malifaux

Banished // Malifaux

This set is led by the Silken King, Love Live, who commands the Urchin, Silent Siren, Colony and the three Shorebound Sentinels. Again, this should be a very fun and quick set of miniatures to paint. Ampersand should be easy enough to paint with drybrushing, washes and weathering materials. The Banished feel like they'd work so well with Speedpaints!

All of the miniatures within the Starter Set are completely preassembled, so you don't need to build the figures. Simply pop them out, read the Quickstart Guide and get playing your first games of Malifaux. A great new entry point into the weird world of Malifaux?
