Armies Of The United States Pre-Orders Live For Bolt Action
February 3, 2025 by brennon
Warlord Games are following hot on the heels of Armies Of Germany with pre-orders now live for the new Armies Of The United States supplement that supports the new edition of their 28mm World War II wargame, Bolt Action.
Armies Of The United States // Bolt Action
Armies Of The United States continues the good work of the Armies Of... books by diving into more options for those playing the Americans in Bolt Action. You'll find a new range of infantry, artillery, vehicles and more spread out across 112 pages. You'll also find guides for running themed forces based on different theatres of war like the Pacific and D-Day plus a breakdown of what soldiers and vehicles belonged to different periods of World War II (Early, Mid and Late).
There is also a special figure available for those who pre-order from Warlord Games in the form of James "Jake" McNiece. He was a legend of the US Airborne and to quote Warlord "an absolute menace to his superiors". He is shown here in his winter uniform with Thompson SMG, ready to lead his troops during the Battle of the Bulge.
US Airborne - New US Plastic Set!
Accompanying the book is a new plastic set, the US Airborne (D-Day) Platoon. This gives you a solid spearhead, intent on breaking the hold that the Nazis had over Europe.
US Airborne (D-Day) Platoon // Bolt Action
Represented here in their M42 jump uniforms, these soldiers were tough and had a "never-say-die" attitude. You get loads of options in the kit to make thirty US Airborne troops carrying a mixture of weapons including the iconic M1 Garand and Carbine plus Thompsons, M3 SMGs and the BAR. You will also get options for the M1919 Browning Light Machine Gun and Bazooka Anti-Tank Rocket Launcher.

The set also comes with specialist equipment like the M-227 Signal Lamp and M1903A4 sniper rifle. You'll also find pouches and pistols galore for those up close and personal encounters when you're running low on ammo. When it comes to heads, you'll have helmets and the famous Mohawk of the Filthy Thirteen. A great set of troops for you to use when taking the fight to the Germans during D-Day.

A full Starter Army is also available for the US Airborne called Currahee! This set gives you a mixture of different kits beyond the new plastic set so you can be ready for action right away once the Armies Of The United States book drops.
Currahee! US Airborne (D-Day) Starter Army // Bolt Action
This set is great for those looking to represent the Airborne from the likes of Band Of Brothers. Inside, you'll find...
- Thirty-six multi-pose hard plastic US Airborne (D-Day) Infantry
- One US Airborne (D-Day) Officer (Warlord Resin)
- Two US Airborne (D-Day) Medium Machine Gun Teams (Metal Gun with Warlord Resin Crew)
- One US Airborne (D-Day) Medium Mortar Team (Metal Gun with Warlord Resin Crew)
- One US Airborne 75mm Pack Howitzer (Metal Gun and three Crew)
- One US Airborne 57mm Anti-tank Gun (Metal Gun and three Crew)
- Plastic Bases For All Miniatures
- Waterslide Decals
Enough to keep you busy for the next few months I'd say. The wealth of starter options from Warlord for those diving into the new edition is great and I hope that more folks are tempted by World War II wargaming off the back of seeing these sets.
Looking Ahead - New Armies Of... Books
As well as the Armies Of The United States miniatures, there were also some previews of the next couple of books coming down the pipeline...
Armies Of Great Britain // Bolt Action
Armies Of The Soviet Union // Bolt Action
Watch out for these books coming in the next few months covering the British and the Soviet Union and how they can be expanded upon to fit into the third edition of Bolt Action.
Could you be tempted to start a US Army in Bolt Action?

That free miniature looks like he’s carrying a bag of flour for making bread for the platoon in his helmet. World’s Largest Field Dressing contest winner?
Nah, I won’t be getting this, ever. Warlord doesn’t make models worth buying.
it does look a bit oversized, doesn’t it ?
Figs look great. More interesting and more character than anything GW is capable of making.
@dreddnought that’s bloody hilarious. This gurning faces and oversized hands sculpts – if we can call them that – really? Nah. Dey awful.
The metals that the plastics are replacing are good – because they’re NOT WARLORD – but Paul Hicks pre-WL sculpts.
Once they hit Warlord, they just be poopy.
Looks great and I’ll be buying some but that shouldn’t be called a starter box since it doesn’t actually contain a legal army. It contains bits and pieces to make one but you can’t use the Artillery/AT Guns with the MMG’s and Mortar. I guess you could say it “starts” you off on one but that’s not why we buy them, it’s meant to be a one purchase, everything I need to start playing not a “here’s some things you need plus buy duplicates of them to be able to play”.
yeah youre not wrong. it suited the older versions of the game but they do need a rethink going forwards.
although, the 2 cannons can be from the same artillery platoon so i does kinda work… but not as it should.
