BricksKrieg are still taking pre-orders for their new Eastern Front Battle in a Box, which was showcased at UK Games Expo and is now available for general sale. Inside, you'll find two armies to get you started with their range (and game) covering the Germans and the Soviets in World War II.

Eastern Front Battle In A Box - BricksKrieg

Eastern Front: Battle In A Box // BricksKrieg

This acts as a complete package for diving into BricksKrieg and features a range of components for making your infantry, vehicles and terrain, so you can set up your first battles. We should start with the Soviets since they are the new kids on the block (pun intended).

Soviet T-34 - BricksKrieg

Soviet T-34 // BricksKrieg

The set comes with three Soviet T-34 as well as three Soviet KV-1, which seriously look the part and match up nicely to their real-world counterparts. I'm always in awe of the design work that goes into these vehicles to make them match up to what you see in photography of the period, so it's an identifiable silhouette for tank buffs.

Soviet Russian KV-1 - BricksKrieg

The Soviets in the set also get themselves one unit of Soviet Infantry that you can use to try and claim your objectives, hunkering down in some of the terrain that you get in the set (more on that later!).

Russian Infantry - BricksKrieg

On the other side of the coin for this Eastern Front set, you can also get your hands on the Germans, who are equally furnished with tanks that are going to be going up against the Soviet armour you saw above.

German Panzer III - BricksKrieg

German Panzer III // BricksKrieg

The Germans can make use of three Panzer III's and two Tiger I's, so you've got a bit of an allowance for the fearsomeness of the Tiger when it comes to the German side. Again, the designs are spot on and I can sense John salivating from here.

German Tiger I - BricksKrieg

The Germans also get infantry in the set, which can go up against the Soviet forces as they desperately try and battle the relentless war machine rolling out of the East towards them.

German Infantry - BricksKrieg

German Infantry // BricksKrieg

It's neat how simple but effective the infantry look in BricksKrieg. You can immediately identify that these are little soldiers from the clever use of blocks and the black pieces as guns. When you're standing at that "wargamer's eye view", the illusion is complete.

Last but not least, the set also comes with a variety of terrain pieces, which you can use to set up your first battlefields.

Walls & Ruins - BricksKrieg

Walls & Ruins // BricksKrieg

There are two sets of Destroyed Walls which can be used as scatter terrain. It might end up getting you excited about the other terrain that BricksKrieg make. Capping things off, you'll also get the Eastern Front Booklet, which includes four scenarios that you can play through using the components from this set.

Winter Upgrade!

BricksKrieg also gave us a bit of a preview of what's coming up next. Heading to the Eastern Front means having to deal with wintery weather, and so you might want to change out your camouflage options.

Winter Tank - BricksKrieg

Winter Tank // BricksKrieg

Here you can see some of the variants that BricksKrieg has already created for their World War II range. These take the form of "upgrade kits", which are small additional bags of white bricks which can replace other bricks in your set when building (or rebuilding) your tanks.

You can still see the touches of grey and green on the tanks where the crews haven't quite got them completely covered. It's also helpful for making sure you can tell which tank is which!

Winter Tank Alt - BricksKrieg

You can also get new Winter Infantry later on down the line to help bolster the Eastern Front, which also comes with those winter bases as you can see below!

It's great to see plenty of fun stuff on the horizon from BricksKrieg, and it will be fascinating to see what pops up next. We could potentially see aerial support in the form of Soviet planes but I would imagine that the Eastern Front range will considerably bulk out with support weapons and more.

Could you be tempted by that Eastern Front set?
