Spectre Miniatures have released a brand new Revised Rulebook and Revised Starter Set for their 28mm Modern Warfare wargame, Spectre Operations. You can dive in and play your games with a tightened-up set of rules for this rather unique miniatures game.

Revised Rulebook - Spectre Miniatures

Revised Rulebook // Spectre Miniatures

Spectre Operations has been designed so that you can play out all manner of Modern Warfare scenarios on the tabletop. You can take control of a highly-trained Element which has been sent into enemy territory to eliminate high-value targets, covertly shut down communications or gather intel or perhaps even engage in all-out warfare on the streets of some wartorn nation. Maybe you'll even find yourself fighting on home soil, the options are endless.

With all that in mind, Spectre Operations comes backed up by some seriously accurate miniatures based on real-world soldiers. This means that you can dive into cutting-edge and ultra-realistic battles or maybe give things a twist and go all Hollywood. Here are some of the key changes to the rules...

  • Escalations: Commanders and Specialists with Long Range Comms can now use an Action to test for available Escalation levels, which are then used in Engagement Actions. This makes Commanders more impactful. The SitRep phase has been removed for smoother turns.
  • Assault: More detailed Assault Actions have been introduced, including a dedicated list of combat weapons. Sidearms can now be used in Assault Actions, increasing the utility of pistols.
  • Action Clarifications: Engagement Actions, Breaching (including Breach and Clear), Capture, and Fire Support Actions have been clarified and tweaked.
  • Snap Shot: Snap Shots can now be taken at any Engagement Range, increasing their lethality.
  • Suppressing: Suppressing Weapons now apply additional Stress in Engagements, making Sniper Rifles more effective for suppression.
  • Grenades: Grenades now have the One Shot rule by default to prevent "Grenade Spam" and encourage more strategic use. (Players are welcome to adjust this for specific scenarios or specialist loadouts.)
  • Vehicles: Rules for Engaging Vehicles, Armour Penetration, and other vehicle-related mechanics have been significantly clarified.

If you already got your hands on the rules for Spectre Operations, guess what? You will get the rules sent to you for free via Spectre. A good starting point for that might be within the new Revised Starter Set...

The Starter Set gives you everything you need for a few first games of Spectre Operations. Inside, you'll get the Physical and Digital Spectre: Operations rules as well as a starting scenario. There are also two squads of miniatures representing the Insurgent Fighters and the Task Force CQB Element. Finally, you also get a pack of printed terrain.

If that has got you intrigued, you might also want to look at some of the new miniatures Spectre released recently. Here we have the FSB Kill Team.

This set comes with a collection of "low profile" operatives who are working on counter-terrorism missions. They are wearing civilian clothing but covered by a variety of body armour types and a bunch of weapons that are good for close-quarters action. As mentioned above, the kit they are using is all based on real-world weapons so you'll find something intriguing here amongst the range.

Will you be diving into Spectre Operations?
