April 28, 2025 by brennon
Warlord Games are now taking pre-orders for their next book for the new edition of the World War II wargame, Bolt Action. Armies of Great Britain can be pre-ordered right now alongside a new set of plastic miniatures and a Starter Army.
Armies of Great Britain // Warlord Games
This brings the Armies of Great Britain into the third edition of the game, acting as an essential guide to collecting and painting the British. The book will feature a mixture of rules for infantry, artillery and vehicles covering the British during the Early, Mid and Late-War periods.
You'll also find unique unit profiles and national special rules for the British alongside the historical background, illustrations and photography to back it up. There is also a special miniature included as part of the pre-order, Capt. John Henry Cound Brunt. This heroic individual fought during the Italian Campaign, wielding his Bren gun to deadly effect.
New Winter Infantry
Keeping with the winter theme of the initial Bulge boxed set for Bolt Action, Warlord Games have also put together a new plastic kit for a British & Canadian Infantry (Winter) Platoon.
British & Canadian Infantry (Winter) Platoon // Warlord Games
This set introduces not just the British but also the Commonwealth forces fighting in North-West Europe. The set features thirty infantry figures in winter clothing ranging from greatcoats to leather jerkins. This means that you can build both British and Canadian forces for battling during the later portion of World War II.

Inside the set, you'll also get a selection of weapons from the classic Lee-Enfield Rifle through to Sten Submachine Guns and Bren Light Machine Guns. You will also get options to build a PIAT, a Light Mortar, Flamethrower and even some Minesweeping equipment, which could come in handy for specific scenarios.

The plastic box also comes with a range of different head options, including the classic "tin hat" helmet. You also have cold-weather balaclavas, general service caps and some bonnets for the Scottish. These options and more can also make officers and other specialist units if you like.
If you so desire, you can also make spotters for indirect fire units and also the likes of the Corps of Military Police Sections, if you want to go a different direction. There is a LOT that you can do with this plastic kit.
Crossing The Rhine
If you like the sound of that but want to dive deeper into playing games as the British in Bolt Action, you can also get the Crossing the Rhine Starter Army.

This gives you a battle-ready force of British troops for dropping into your games of Bolt Action. The core of the army is a Rifle Platoon made up of an Officer as well as a pair of ten-man Infantry Sections. You also get a two-man Sniper Team in that mix. There is then an Engineer Platoon made up of two five-man sections with Flamethrowers and another Officer. All of that is made out of the aforementioned plastic kit.
Backing up your infantry, you also have Heavy Weapon and Artillery Platoons. A pair of Medium Machine Guns, a Medium Mortar and a 25-pdr Light Howitzer slot into the mix alongside an Armoured Platoon with a Sherman Firefly and Humber Armoured Car. This should present you with a well-rounded army to get started with.
Wrap up and dive into some winter battles with the British in Bolt Action!
