April 29, 2025 by brennon
The Plastic Soldier Company are still taking pre-orders for the deluxe version of Battlegroup: Küstrin, a new supplement for the World War II wargame. After this pre-order window closes, it will be available as a print-on-demand product so if you want the softback version, get in quick!
Battlegroup: Küstrin // The Plastic Soldier Company
This version of the book will be a traditional softback deluxe version available as a one-off print run. Inside, you'll find a set of nine scenarios and more that cover the Battle Of Kustrin that took place in 1945.
These scenarios cover the campaign from January to March 1945 around the town of Küstrin in Germany. You'll be able to trace the fighting from the beginning of the fighting through to the eventual fall of the Red Army.
Factory Counter-Attack // Battlegroup: Küstrin
The scenarios are designed to be played on an average-sized wargames table with a mixture of armies that go from a few squads through to a couple of platoons per side, all using the Battlegroup rules. The designers have made a point of focusing on the intriguing opportunities open to those fighting out the Late War period in this corner of the world, as it wasn't quite as one-sided as folks would think.
Küstrin introduces some interesting gaming and hobby opportunities, covering the likes of "rag-tag Volkssturm units to Hungarian Infantry, to Soviets using lend-lease equipment to King Tigers, to Josef Stalin 2s, to 105mm Flak guns and all manner of defences". You'll also be looking at a World War II siege which is something a bit different!
The Last Surprise // Battlegroup: Küstrin
Hopefully, diving into a supplement like Battlegroup: Küstrin will give you something fun to play that steps away from the battles in Normandy. Do you think that you're going to be giving this a go? Pre-orders are still available until tomorrow (30th April), so you've still got time to get involved.

“You’ll be able to trace the fighting from the beginning of the fighting through to the eventual fall of the Red Army.” – typo? Fall of the RED Army?
