If you want to get stuck into World War I wargaming, especially around the start of the war, then Great Escape Games has an awesome game for you to try out called 1914. Infantry Brigades were recently released as well to make entry into this game even easier.

1914 British Infantry Brigade - Great Escape Games

All of the models within these sets (like the British one above) are at 12mm and allow you to build up a good fighting force for their game. The focus at this point of World War I was still on moving infantry, big field guns and of course, cavalry charges. For example, you can see the massed ranks of cavalry here in the German force.

As well as the British and the Germans we also have the French...

...and the Belgians who would have been in the fierce fighting during this period. In an age before the trench warfare that you're used to seeing on the tabletop, this gives you a new take on World War I.

You can also watch an interview we did with Great Escape games above which goes into a little more detail about the game and why they wanted to set it around 1914.
