There has never been a better time to be a superhero fan, with films and TV shows about them popping up. Now we get our first glimpse of DC's scarlet speedster as he speeds towards his own show.

The Flash Costume

The Flash will focus upon the Barry Allen incarnation of the classic comic book character and is set to be a spin off of the popular DC comic hero show Arrow.

The actor playing the Flash in the upcoming pilot is Grant Gustin, reprising the role of Barry Allen from his time in Arrow.

The Flash

I think the new suit looks great and is a perfect rendition of the classic costume. The fact that this is being produced by the guys behind Arrow has me hopeful too, as that is a pretty good show in its own right.

However, let's not forget that this isn't the first time The Flash has had his own TV show.

The Flash TV Series

I think it's safe to say that The Flash is already looking better than his 1991 appearance, although it has been suggested that original Flash actor John Wesley Shipp will be appearing in the pilot, with the possibility that he will become a recurring character if the series gets the green light.

Personally, I hope he turns up as Jay Garrick, the original Flash from the Golden Age of comics. The Flash has always had a strong tie with his other incarnations within the comics, so it would be a really good touch to see the original actor in that role.

Is this a show you'll be keeping an eye out for?
