Cado & Companions Get New Warhammer Age Of Sigmar Minis
February 18, 2025 by brennon
Games Workshop are releasing a bunch of miniatures tied to their Black Library books for Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age Of Sigmar with the focus here on The Mortal Realms. Antihero Cado Ezechiar has a new set which features two of his companions from his latest book.
Cado Ezechiar // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Cado Ezechiar is a fantastic character and one well worth reading about if you want to dive deeper into The Mortal Realms of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. Turned by Neferata, he was given the gift of immortality so that he could hunt down the servants of Chaos who burned his kingdom to the ground in malefic fire but in return, he would have to be her killer.
Cado walked the line for many years but he is now a renegade among the Nulamians. He is intent on pursuing his singular goal of killing the servants of the Dark Gods but still finds himself drawn into Neferata's schemes. He has become the loose cannon that she can unleash on her foes without reprisal from Nagash or the others of his court.
Cado is watched over by members of his own court, souls bound to rings on his fingers. One soul maintains much of her free will in the form of Solia. She guides him when Cado is unsure of the path to take.
However, one member of the Nulamian court who found himself embroiled in Cado's adventures in the latest book is Aurelias. He is no Soulblight but instead a mortal man, a Death Mage who acts as the eyes and ears of Neferata, keeping an eye on Cado.
Aurelias // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
He is presented here in miniature form with Kennistrix, his twin-headed snake. It pays to have a magical snake nearby to watch over you when you're summoning the winds of magic in order to cast a spell or two. I like that a lot of the hallmarks of Nulamian culture have carried through into his design, giving you an idea of how other mortals fit into the world of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar.
The second of Cado's companions in this set is Sissendra. Sired by Cado many years ago, she is bound to her master but also harbours resentment towards him since he always finds a way to drag her into trouble and put her (un)life on the line.

It's really great to see these miniatures getting added to the Warhammer Age Of Sigmar range. I think Cado has all the makings of The Mortal Realm's Malus Darkblade and his stories by John French are brilliant.
Blades Of The Hollow King // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
The second book, The Dead Kingdom, features something of a vampire civil war brewing beneath the surface which Cado has to navigate and it's great fun, especially when you bring in followers of Order who are there to upset the balance!
Rules for The Blades Of The Hollow King will be coming in the new Battletome for the Soulblight Gravelords. I will be getting this set for the army of the undead that I don't actually have yet.
What do you make of these new miniatures?

Just ignoring the fact that I don’t like the visuals of these models: Are these still gaming pieces to play a game with? It feels like G’Wullu is making minis bigger just for “big-ness” sake. I feel these border already on “mini diorama”. Especially Cado Ezechiar. It’s getting silly.
Yeah they still have rules etc. I think in terms of GW silly bases and “extra stuff” these aren’t too bad and don’t overstep too far into the idea of fluff for the sake of fluff on the bases.
I still feel like G’Wullu is drifting further and further from a “miniatures game” to “display pieces you happen to be able to use in game”.
“My diorama moves across the table…”
🤣
Wait they really called them Nulamians, as in Nu-Lamians? That’s got to be up there as one of the cringiest and laziest decisions GW have made. That’s like them unveiling the new Stormcast Faction the ‘Sigmarines’.
Very lazy … it’s like GWulluh isn’t even trying with Sigmar, anymore.
