Fragged Double Tap Offers A New Sci-Fi Skirmish Wargame!
February 25, 2025 by brennon
The minds behind Fragged Empire, the rather nifty Sci-Fi RPG that has been around for a while, are dipping their toes into the world of miniature wargaming with a new way to dive into their universe in Double Tap.
Fragged Double Tap
Fragged Double Tap will be based on their Sci-Fi world and make use of 32mm miniatures from their own collection (currently available on Patreon for example) with around seven figures per side. You'll then just need their rules (available for free to playtest right now) and an hour and a half of your time.
Fragged Double Tap - Gameplay
The idea behind the rules is to provide you with a cool set of skirmish rules that are light and easy to digest but with plenty of tactical depth. Something that a lot of folks are looking for nowadays. Currently, the game has been designed as a two-player versus game but there could be options in the future for it to become a solo/cooperative game with options or campaign play too. That's IF the vibe flows in that direction.

The game itself allows you to take your characters from the roleplaying game world and explore new stories with them in a wargaming context. Currently, the team have been showing off some of their thoughts behind the in-house playtests over on Patreon but they are opening it up to public playtesting now so you can have a go and see if the game works for you.
Stat Block // Fragged Double Tap
Some unique elements of Fragged Double Tap sound fascinating. There is alternating activation which is pretty much a standard nowadays with characters then able to use a multitude of different actions. Units also get to react to what you've done with enemies that can see their opponent attacking back, adding to the flow of gameplay. Interestingly though, the game ends after each player has completed twenty activations, putting a cap on the game. This means you'll have to choose who you focus on during a game even if you've got more powerful characters.
Playtest Rules // Fragged Double Tap
Games end after this point and the player with the most objective markers is the winner! This should lead to some fascinating scenario-based play which isn't just about killing your opponents. Double Tap sounds fascinating and I like that it also offers a good way for you to dive into this Sci-Fi universe beyond just the roleplaying game.
Keep an eye out for more on this as I'll be watching to see where development goes!
