Lay Siege With Middle-earth SBG’s Gundabad Catapult Troll
March 25, 2025 by brennon
Games Workshop previewed another new miniature coming to the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game soon alongside another book for the new edition. We start with the miniature which takes the form of a towering and dangerous Gundabad Catapult Troll.
Gundabad Catapult Troll // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
This towering bit of Forge World resin has been designed to reinforce Azog's army and bring down the walls of whatever stronghold stands in his way. The largest Trolls are used as the mounts for the war catapult which is then manned by a crew of Goblins. Those defenders hiding behind the crumbling walls of Dale won't know what hit them.
Gundabad Catapult Troll - Details // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
Even if you try to rush up and take down the Catapult Troll that means getting up close and personal with it. Those armoured metal gauntlets pack as much of a punch as the rocks thrown from its back so you're in for quite the task! Maybe it's best to hold back and fill it full of arrows?
Matched Play Guide
As well as the new miniature, there is also a new tome coming for those who like diving into the Matched Play side of things with the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game.
Matched Play Guide // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
Inside this sixty-four-page rules supplement there are twenty-four balanced scenarios designed for matched play. Six of which are entirely new plus you'll also get rules and advice for running doubles, campaigns and team events. This will be well sought after by those eager to get into the tournament scene with the new edition.
Pre-orders for what you see here and the previously revealed Prince Imrahil (and Armies Of Middle-earth) will be coming in the next few months. Hopefully, it won't be long to wait!
Do you like the big Catapult Troll?

Very nice, how much?
2 must buy
That’s a fantastic looking figure
The two little words that kill enthusiasm for a big kit ..forgeworld resin
Which will then mean the price is silly for the privilege, utterly killing interest
It’s a beautiful sculpt, but I dread to think how many limbs it will cost! More a display piece than something I’d ever consider risking taking to a game! Can you imagine dropping it? Ow!!
