Games Workshop introduced a new character to the ranks of Warhammer Age of Sigmar this week and a new champion for the Chaos god Khorne. The Deathbringer is ready to slay mighty champions and claim their skulls for his blood-drenched lord.

Deathbringer - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Deathbringer // Warhammer Age of Sigmar

The Deathbringer is another ascendant warrior who has their sights set on leadership of their own warband and perhaps even daemonhood eventually. His speciality is in hunting down warlords, generals, kings and queens with the aim of relieving them of their heads using the Kingslayer axe.

The Deathbringer looks suitably "metal" and suits the look of the Blades of Khorne in Warhammer Age of Sigmar. He is thankfully less "quirky" compared to previous releases for the Blades of Khorne and has a look that wouldn't be out of place in armies of The Old World and Warhammer Fantasy Battles.

He comes with options for a ragged cap adorned with skulls or a trophy rack that you can mount on his back. Maybe you should get two Deathbringers for good measure. More axes mean more heads leaving shoulders.

New Blades of Khorne Spearhead

A new character also means a new Spearhead for the Blades of Khorne that will be released alongside their new Chaos Battletome.

This new Spearhead is a fast-paced hunting pack that is going to be doggedly running down the enemy and not letting them get a moment's peace. It is led by Karanak, the fearsome three-headed daemon hound of Khorne, who marshals two packs of five Flesh Hounds.

Bowing before the daemon hound, you also have the Claws of Karanak, who have come from Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Warcry and now find themselves fighting on the battlefields of Warhammer Age of Sigmar proper. They pledge their weapons to Khorne and keep up the hunt alongside Karanak.

Updated Chaos Battletome

All of the rules for the miniatures you see here will come in the new Battletome for Warhammer Age of Sigmar and the Blades of Khorne.

Inside, you'll find plenty of ways to claim skulls and spill blood in the name of Khorne whilst listening to your favourite heavy metal album. You'll get new Battle Traits, Armies and Regiments of Renown, plus the new Spearhead (above), the Fangs of the Blood God.

I love the simple nature of Khorne armies in Warhammer games. You don't really have to think and can just send your warriors powering deep into the heart of the action. They are great to "roleplay" on the tabletop as well. "What should my unit do next? Charge? Yes! Charge!".

If you don't shout "Blood for the Blood God, Skulls for the Skull Throne" every time you take a turn, you're not doing it right.

What do you make of the new miniature and Spearhead?

"If you don't shout "Blood for the Blood God, Skulls for the Skull Throne" every time you take a turn, you're not doing it right..."
