Warcradle Announces Return Of Sci-Fi Wargame, Firestorm Armada!
October 29, 2025 by brennon
Warcradle Studios has announced that they are going to begin development on the Sci-Fi wargame, Firestorm Armada! After conquering the seas with Dystopian Wars, they are heading into deep space with a return to development on Firestorm Armada.
Firestrom Armada // Warcradle Studios
Firestorm Armada has been a long time coming and as the studio team has grown, Warcradle has begun to develop the game and give it the justice it deserves. The game is now in active development and whilst there is no exact date available just yet on when you'll be able to head back into the black ocean, it is on the cards.
From Warcradle Studios...
"Firestorm Armada takes the community to new heights, exploring brutal cinematic and combat in the galaxy’s most hazardous region of space. But what is this brand new setting? What is the story that Firestorm Armada will tell?"
Joining the Warcradle team will be highly acclaimed author Richard Morgan (creator of Altered Carbon), expanding the narrative for the Firestorm universe.
“Space Opera has always held a special place in my heart. Among the first Science Fiction I ever read were classic space opera tales like Poul Anderson’s Terran Empire sequence and Asimov’s Foundation novels.”
“In my earliest TV viewing, I watched enthralled as the USS Enterprise duelled Klingon battlecruisers and Romulan birds of prey. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion is an image burned deep into my consciousness and the DNA of my writing, for all that we never get to actually see it ourselves. So I’m delighted to be working with Warcradle Studios on a brand new Sci-Fi Tabletop Wargame - Firestorm Armada!”
Additionally, Robin Cruddace, previously senior developer for Warhammer 40,000, is taking the helm as Lead Games Developer for Firestorm Armada.
“Firestorm Armada is going to be amazing! I was super excited to be asked to take the helm of this great game, and I can’t wait to get started. I know players are eager to immerse themselves in this fantastic setting, and that they are waiting patiently to see everything Warcradle has been up to - we aim to not only meet, but exceed those expectations.”

As well as the new rules, you'll also be getting a new range of plastic miniatures with groups of destroyers, cruisers and battleships in insane detail. More will be revealed next year but Warcradle has said to be prepared for some of the BEST miniatures they have ever produced.
Are you getting excited about the return of Firestorm Armada?

Just need Uncharted Seas and we’ll have the full house (and my favourite of the old Spartan games)
Hmm. The Link at the top “Firestorm Armada” leads to nowhere :S
Works now – the URL was updated
This sounds exciting. Will be interested to see what comes of it. Was a big BFG fan years ago.
I have a couple of small fleets from the original game. Hopefully they scale well, as I don’t mind getting new stuff but would like to still be able to use my painted Terrans at least
Something to look forward to 👍
I’m thinking that there will be a few space combat games in the next couple of years to add to those that are already out (Space Battles etc.). The Epic Warpath rulebook’s fluff talks a lot about fleets, so Mantic are probably gearing up for one in a couple of years. I’ve a feeling that GW will possibly do something with Battle Fleet Gothic (enjoy the ship turning expansion, followed by the acceleration supplement). Dropfleet commander may get a new edition as well.
The Ships in the previous edition I always thought were fantastic … especially the Dindrenzi!
I wonder if they will then expand back into Planet Fall? but suspect it might clutter the space with Armoured Clash being a similar scale.
Good news indeed.
A couple of months ago I went looking to see if I could find any of the old models anywhere, without luck. So this is very positive
I’ve never been a fan of fleet based games, but I would love to see this lead to Firestorm Planetfall in the near future.
Well. That’s a completely unexpected development. I was thinking FA was dead and gone. I’m pleasantly surprised and curious as to what they’ll do with it. It sounds as though it might be a complete revamp.
I absolutely loved firestorm when Spartan had it and still have my dindrenzi and Terran fleets.
Eagerly awaiting this one!
