Games Workshop capped off the initial suite of factions for Warhammer: The Old World this week with previews of what's on the horizon for the Wood Elves and the Beastmen Brayherds. Two big Battalion boxes are on the way, alongside a whole host of returning plastic and metal miniatures.

Wood Elf Realms Battalion - Warhammer The Old World

The Wood Elves will be defending their glades with a hefty Battalion box boasting sixty-two miniatures. The set comes with thirty-two Glade Guard and twenty Wild Rangers who can pack a melee punch. You also have the ten Wild Riders who can run down your enemies that dare to step within your realm.

There are alternative build options across the kits, allowing you to make Deepwood Scouts, Eternal Guard and Sisters of the Thorn, so you can be quite flexible when it comes to this set. Plenty more backs up this force with a number of metal heroes making a return alongside the plastic Araloth, the Lord of Talsyn. As a fan of the Wood Elf aesthetic, it might be hard to avoid picking up at least a few of these kits.

Rampaging through the outskirts of Athel Loren are the Beastmen Brayherds who also get themselves a new Battalion which is quite the opposite of the disciplined ranks of the Wood Elves.

This set gives you sixty-one miniatures with thirty Ungors and thirty Gors making up the majority of your force. The focus is the Cygor (or Ghorgon) that you can build which will be attracting a lot of cannon fire, I imagine!

Much like with the Wood Elves, there will also be a bunch of plastic and metal minatures coming back for the Beastmen who got ousted from Warhammer Age Of Sigmar last year. There is also a new Forge World Resin miniature in the form of Kralmaw who we've seen pop up in previews before.

New Arcane Journals

Both sides will get a new Arcane Journal, which provides generals with bonus rules, historical armies and campaigns for you to dive into and plenty of special characters and magical items for you to bring to battle.

This means that the initial wave of factions for Warhammer: The Old World will be entirely released once these two armies hit the Games Workshop webstore. We know that Cathay are waiting in the wings and I would imagine Kislev won't be far away.

Do you think the Wood Elves and Beastmen Brayherds could tempt you?
