Blood Red Skies: North Africa
Painting begins
I’ve started painting up the 109s. I looked up various colour schemes and have gone for variants on those used in North Africa around 1941. I’m not going to get too hung up on historical accuracy as I won’t change then as the campaign progresses. As there are no models for them either I’ll use these to represent the different variants of the 109 that JG27 upgraded to throughout the war.
One this that has been quite frustrating is the soft plastic that the planes in the core box set are made of. They take some straightening prior to painting and are pretty annoying to work with. My box of Hurricanes has arrived and these are made out of a hard plastic so I’m looking forward to getting them cleaned up an painted.
