Recommended Reading List for Historical Wargamers
Hello everyone! In this video, we discuss a beginning list of just a few great military history books or military novels that draw a direct line of sight to the wargaming table.
Depending on what periods and conflicts you like to recreate, I hope you find at least one book in this list that might add a little context, background, or inspiration to your game!
Of course, this list is far from comprehensive. What military historical books would you add to enhance, inform, facilitate, and inspire your historical wargames?
Oh, and yes. There will be a quiz!
I’d love to see more of these “reading recommendations” videos, but perhaps shorter in length and focused on a particular era/conflict (such as AWI or Vietnam etc). Quite often reading a good book on such things can get you over a period of “hobby funk” and get you painting up minis and gaming again. Hear your loud and clear, @phaidknott – this was a last-minute idea when scheduled content fell through and we had to come up with something to fill our Wednesday streaming schedule. I pulled a ton of books thining I was going to buzz through the pretty fast. Turns out community response in the comments was very robust and it took me much longer than I expected to get through all the books. Trust me, by the time this stream was complete my voice was shot.
