Many years ago I dipped a toe into Necromunda with a Van Saar gang. My knowledge of the game was minimal and I didn’t build a particularly effective list and got crushed by power gaming. As a result I didn’t enjoy the game much.

When a friend asked me to try Necromunda again, I decided to revisit the gang. Knowing how poor my first build was I sought out some internet help and discovered a great channel on YouTube called Commander CheapSkate who has done a series of videos on ‘good’ starting gangs for each of the Necromunda core boxes.

Using his video as a guide I needed to do a few weapon swaps.

Remodelling

This ganger was originally modelled with two las pistols and it was relatively easy to swap for two plasma pistols. Unfortunately a bit of green stuff required as one of the original laspistols did not break off clean. This ganger was originally modelled with two las pistols and it was relatively easy to swap for two plasma pistols. Repainting

With the weapons swapped I needed to finish the painting. Unfortunately I didn’t have detailed records from my original painting but with a bit of trial and error I think I identified my original colours.

Much of the original paint was chipped or marked with errant brush strokes so I had to touch up most of the colours.

As usual all paints are Vallejo Model Color (VMC) unless otherwise noted.

Armour – Medium blue

Bodyglove, armour details, gun details, knife scabbard, armour pipes – Royal purple

Flesh – Sunny skintone

Hair, equipment – Gold brown

Knife handle – black

Skull on knife – Sand yellow

Guns, skull tails, bases – Natural steel

Mask eyes, screens, plasma details, sphere on top of backpack – Scorpion green

With the base coats down I applied Citadel Nuln Oil wash to all the metallics and Citadel Agrax Earthshade to everything else.

The bases were edged in VMC Black and the varnish was AK Interactive Ultra Matte through an airbrush as usual.
